It is my absolute pleasure to host fellow Coal artist Jamaica Suk this August on The Subheavy Radio Show. Generationally Korean- and California native: Jamaica Suk, grew up musically inclined, a background in jazz, largely influenced by her non-traditional family structure and musical roots. A musician from an early age, with math rock- instrumental and shoegaze bands, she eventually found herself four to the floor with San Francisco’s underground electronic music scene. A degree in audio engineering, residencies at US venues, and a trip to Berlin later: she made Zur Wilde Renate her studio home. Here: Suk began writing the deep dance bass lines and moody instrumental harmonies that now identify her sound.  She finds influence in techno contemporaries such as Donato Dozzy, Terrence Dixon, Sandwell District, Skudge and Woo York and has collaborated on releases with artists such as Tim Xavier, Michael Tello, Signal Flow, and Aquarius Heaven. Suk's forthcoming EP entitled "Spektrum" will be released this fall on Face to Face Recordings, on vinyl and digital formats. As usual, I'll warm up for the first hour as Shibby Shitegeist :)
