grabbed by the hair and thrown to the floor with a good kick to the ribs when he tries to push himself up.

this is called the banana pose, first i didnt think it was that bad but good god its horrible. i tried it on myself (without the cuffs), and its probably one of the most terrifying positions to be in. your head is tilted back, making you feel like you could fall backwards, and your most vulnerable parts are exposed. it stretches your spine in the most uncomfortable way, putting all the strain on your lower back. really no wiggle room to make it less tasking on your body.

"I can't stand the cold. And it's so easy to get hypothermia or frostbite if you're unprepared," they'd say without a second thought.

Now though, they're not so sure. Their captors have them exposed to the heat of summer day after day. No shade, no clothing to protect them, and very little water. They're chained to a post for the worst of the sun, then dragged inside as soon as night falls for brutal questioning and other torments.

If they're lucky, if they're good, or if their interrogator is just feeling nice, they might earn some water for it. It never feels like enough, of course not. They can't drink their fill until they give their captors the information they want, and they won't, they can't.

So instead they debase themselves for water, for food. They grit their teeth or whimper or cry through the beatings and try not to panic when they're dragged back out to the post once morning comes.

Every night it gets a little bit harder to ignore the bottles of water that sit just out of reach; to mislead or lie or stay silent.

"Whumpee? I asked you a question." whumpee stares for 5 seconds, then makes an astute, insulting observation.

"You know, I could've made that written statement I offered an hour ago in half the time, and it would have been much more coherent. I don't think you're very good at strategy, are you?"

Whumper threatening them with their sword but swords are whumpee's special interest so they're just like "that's not how you hold a greatsword, can I please show you, this is physically hurting me"

"Who are you working for?" "Actually my work itself is more interesting, you see in my mind I actually work for the ocean itself. In marine biology, we like to say--" Gets cut off by a slap.

Whumpee blinking and looking at the ground as they try to figure out what they said wrong this time

"Huh? Is that what you're saying, whumpee?" Whumpee just suddenly blanking out and when they're shoved threateningly, they try anyway and it comes out like "uum butcha won't in the seance that--that--that"

Whumper captures a whole team, looking for information on the larger organization they're a part of. After a few sessions of questioning and torturing the whole team, Whumper makes a deal with the team's defiant loudmouth. Whumper won't hurt the rest of the team, as long as Loudmouth can stay awake.

Just the idea of someone essentially torturing themself with sleep deprivation to protect their team is delicious to me. Especially if they're kind of an asshole to everyone, including their teammates. How long until the rest of the team is begging them to just sleep, no matter what the consequences are?

And of course, no one can stay awake forever. Imagine the guilt when they finally drift off, and wake up to Whumper gloating, and taking one of their teammates away for interrogation. Bonus points if it's that one person that Loudmouth has always respected and been slightly less assholeish towards.

Hero gasped for breath. Screaming was tiring. They were so exhausted. It's been hours. Hours! When will it stop?!

"Why?" they sobbed "...why... ar...doingthis...to me?"

Villain lowered the fire iron.

"Let's take a wiiild guess, Hero. Why?"

Hero tried to talk, but their throat was hoarse.

"Hm? Speak up louder. If you guess right, I'm even willing to give you a break."

They were enemies. For years now. What kind of question was this?

"....revenge"

"Wrong answear."

Fire iron fell on their thigh.

"N-no a-Aah! PL-PLEA- AAAAH!"

They trashed in their restrains. Villain waited patiently for Hero to stop screaming entirely. And then crouched in front of them and grabbed their chin. Their head seemed to be already hanging limp.

"Because it's fun. That's why."

“Whumpee talk to me!”

The liquid dripping within the hull could cause small, painful short-circuits (or a big dramatic one if you fancy!).

Drying and then slowly being baked onto the droid's overheating parts, the liquid could produce a distinctive smell - and a droid with olfactory sensors and proper programming could very much associate this smell with its demise, becoming adequately distressed.

The overheating could also cause the data to be processed less and less efficiently, making it increasingly difficult for the droid to do anything meaningful about its situation.
