Guys idk if you’re all privy to the newly discovered thriving celebrity raccoon from Seattle named Jimothy with short spine syndrome but he is precious to me and I had to draw Rocket and him meeting lmao ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ if you haven’t been blessed with videos of him u have to look him up ok he’s magical LOL

I wanted to draw one of my fav scenes from vol 1– when they’re being processed in the Kyln, and Quill sees the scars on Rocket’s back for the first time.

I’ve always loved this scene— I think it provides so many interesting insights in to how they see each other and go on to treat each other.

When Quill sees Rocket’s scars for the first time, it’s when they’re both shoved in the shower room together without their clothes on. He sees him, and it dawns on him in that moment why Rocket has seemed to act like such an asshole so far— he’s being boisterous and rude in an attempt to make his deep, traumatic insecurities less obvious. And Quill fully sees through his defensive display in that in this moment, and is like, oh, something actually really really bad happened to this guy, and that’s starting to explain a whole lot.

(Now, what exactly happened to Rocket, we of course know that he keeps that to himself for many many years. In fact, vol 3 takes place 12 YEARS after the events of vol 1. Which is crazy to think about)

But yeah, in this scene, when Rocket is forced into this situation where he has to bare his body to people he’s just met, which is undoubtedly scary and uncomfortable, I’ve always really loved how respectful Quill tried to be, by not visually lingering or commenting on his scars. He noticed that Rocket was uncomfortable, so he said nothing, and kept it moving along.

Drawing Rocket wearing dresses makes me so happy! He feels beautiful🌟
