To the person who said f*ggot in the parking lot today:
I was the girl with the purple flower in her hair, walking to her car.
When you said f*ggot, I saw myself with the purple flower in my hair
In the reflection of my car windowâ
The purple flower that my lovely, amazing, sweet, caring, honest girlfriend gave me this morning.
And took the flower out of my hair
In case my parents were home.
I already have to deal with it at home.
Hating myself because Iâve fallen for someone I really care about.
And I do really care about her.
Iâve talked to guys beforeâ
Been actually pretty close to dating themâ
But none of them has meant as much to me as she does.
I only have her for three fucking months
Because weâre about to be ripped apart
Moved to different parts of the country.
But I love every moment with her.
She is kind. She is honest. She is open.
She thinks beyond this whole crappy world to something so much more.
She understands the More.
And I love these things about her.
So the next time you say f*ggot
And the time after thatâ
Youâve made me hate a part of myself that I love.
