i'm re-watching Stargate SG-1 and i'm dreading when Daniel's whimsy is stolen from him by the horrors. I love his fascination of these other worlds and how their cultures parallel our past, his naive tendency to trust others. Most of all, i'll miss his floppy hair :(

You know all of those Stargate episodes where Jack meets a kid and promises the kid they’re gonna see each other again? I need to see these visits! I’m like a nosy social worker spying on wards of the state while the overly interested military man has his supervised visitation? What do they do? What do they talk about? Does Charlie still go by ‘Charlie’? Did Rya’c learn to play catch? Did he really get to know Merrin all over again???

As an old person writing for a 30 year old fandom, do you know what are the most obvious… I guess you could call them mistakes, but it’s fanfic so… whatever. Anyway, I digress. What I notice most is when writers use language that wasn’t coined until recently. I mean, at this point, writing stargate fic is basically like writing a period piece, and that feels ridiculous to say.
