While this is a great intent, the reason it is done is because it is preparing you for having a job. This is because, whether you want to or not, having a job will force you to talk to people, speak to groups, and work in a team. Honestly, if I wasn’t forced to talk and work in group projects when I was in school, my horrible social anxiety would render me mute in public settings. Instead, I just typically don’t speak unless I know the person well. But I CAN talk to people and work as a part of a team. And that is because of being made to do it in school
