her and reghabi meeting. reghabi (late 20s), used to be a wide eyed idealist who genuinely believed working for lumon will make the world better. she heard of cobel (mid 40s) by word of mouth and was her secret nerdy fangirl. cobel also heard of reghabi as an exceptional student and after asal was employed she was drawn to her raw fire and talent (the fact she was being worshipped helped...) they were on the exact same wavelength and quickly got close to each other

reghabi was a late addition to the research team to pull everything together on the surgical side of the severance procedure. since reghabi was enamoured by cobel she ignored the skeevy morality of what they were doing for a while. i mean god same girl

cobel and reghabi bonding with heavy alcohol use (cobel would not open up without it). after getting along and reghabi very obviously thirsting after cobel she suggests meeting after work. they go out and then to reghabis apartment bcs cobel would not let her see her weird flat. they start chatting by complaining about sexism in the workplace. reghabi inquires about the rumours that cobel made the chips. cobel caves and shares her backstory. she also shares how her mother died and breaks down crying. reghabi comforts her and after she calms down she shares her side - her parents disowned her. it will also lead to them fucking for the first time of course. all this leads to them developing genuinely deep feelings for each other

reghabi developed the reintegration theory after seeing innies first hand and realising the massive moral issues with how the company treats them and how much control they have over them. she shared it with cobel and while she was intrigued by the idea, lumon had very different feelings on it and refused to let reghabi develop it. of course that didnt stop reghabi and she would develop it independently in secret, only sharing it with cobel. they disagreed about the methodology - reghabi was in favour of much more radical physical reintegration while cobel thought its too dangerous and favoured soft reintegration, much like the things she did with mark and gemma later on. regardless of disagreements they both found the intellectual discussions on the topic deeply enthralling and cherished the mutual understanding and passion in it

cobel was on the fence whenever to rat her out or not - her scientific self was enthralled by the possibilities reintegration opens, but her kier loyalist self told her its a betrayal of her allegiances. and never mind the fact she was also disturbed by just how much emotional influence reghabi has over her, making her question her allegiances and if all the sacrifices were worth it... but she sacrificed too much already and eventually the kier loyalist side won. she tried telling herself its for reghabis own good, one shouldnt question the board and how the company is run. but despite her best efforts she regretted it immensely, and reghabis influence stayed with her regardless... the seed of doubt was planted.
