So, I get asked a lot about building up one particular muscle group (mostly arms) a lot. I always tell people there’s two rules.

1. There’s no such thing as spot reduction. Your body loses fat where it wants to. You can’t force it to use fat from a specific area of the body.

2. Don’t focus too much one one specific muscle group, especially a small muscle like biceps. Tbh I don’t train arms a ton as an accessory. I’m all triceps for the most part and I only add in bicep work because strongmen have a propensity for bicep tears. Focus on complex lifts i.e. squat, deadlift, bench, and overhead press. I like to add biceps as an accessory on my deadlift day and triceps on my bench or OHP day. You see a lot of guys walking around with lopsided physiques. Mostly this comes in the form of your physique guys that ignore legs and have that sort of Johnny Bravo look to them. The muscle will come from complex movements and accessory lifts for those complex movements. If I can give you any advice specific to arms it’s to do a lot of time-under-tension. Negative preacher curls, close grip bench press, band work, and hammer curls are some of my favorites.
