Ah yes, the USSR playbook - if we control you and crash your economy, we will benefit
Doesnāt always end up being true though and I think they have miscalculated a bit
Ironically, I donāt think Russia will benefit as much as they think they will
They could have, had it been the Cold War, 50 years ago and there was nobody to take up the helm
The trick to world domination is for you to be ready economically and politically to take over once your main rival falls
Ok, letās compare China and Russia
China is politically not entirely isolated and has good relationships with places such as South America, Africa and places in Asia
China also produces its own brands of smartphones, computers, EVs and many other products that are globally marketable
Even before all this Ukraine stuff, letās go back to 2014/15ā¦ Russia didnāt produce much that was globally competitive outside their own market
All I can see is that leadership spent time being angry about the fall of the USSR
They spent their time building an oligarchy and hoping to get rich off of gas and oil exports
They are not ready politically or economically to take up the helm
The ones that are? EU and China
Now I know that Russia, being friends with China and all, thought China would at least be better than the US
But everyone forgot about Europe
That the Europeans have been laying a bit low for a while didnāt mean they were not technologically or politically ready
After all, they are also quite advanced countries
Their unity and preparedness to step in with arms production, technology, satellites, intelligence has I think surprised the Trump administration a bit
And it is certainly not what Russia would want
They should have anticipated this honestly, Europe has been playing world domination games a lot longer than the USA and in fact they invented the game
Case in point - the Greenland elections yesterday, money down Trump/Musk and co spent time and money trying to influence elections to be more favorable to Trumpās goals - favoring a party for fast independence from Denmark and not antagonistic to Trump
Surprise! from behind and totally unexpected, an anti-Trump party which favors a slow path to independence from Denmark wonā¦ oh look, the OG imperialists might have a trick or two up their sleeve
