Quoted comment from @bcacstuff on my blog about my post yesterday. My reply to her is below it:
"And did you also check when and how this happened? Maybe you should before jumping to conclusions. The Netherlands is a free country and everyone has a right to protest. But there are certain times and places that you show respect, such as during the National commemoration. Besides that, this year there was a special commemorations in The Hague, which commemorated next to all victims from WWII and thereafter, also the victims in Palestine. So that's where she should have gone.
This was not at VE Day, this was on 4 May, our National Commemoration on De Dam in Amsterdam when we pay respect to all that are fallen, suffered and fought for our freedom. That moment and place is not the right place to demonstrate and disturb others. There are 364 other days and moments of the year this woman (and her friends) can demonstrate in The Netherlands for whatever cause they want.
So p;ease inform yourself first before you start accusing"
Well. It’s a good thing Canadian soldiers didn’t say time and place to saving The Netherlands from the Nazis trying to genocide the Dutch people. 🤨
If western govts weren’t ignoring the pleas of protestors to do something about the GENOCIDE in Gaza they wouldn’t have to resort to protesting during national ceremonies to have their leaders hear them. That the police officer literally suppressed the protestor’s free speech with a hand over her mouth was shocking behaviour I never would’ve associated with The Netherlands.
There is no time and place but now to speak up for a nation of people being annihilated. Palestinians can’t wait. They’re being starved to death. Israel controls the entry and exits of Gaza. It hasn’t let any food or water into Gaza for over 2 months. Palestinians are being systematically starved by Israel as a weapon of war.
You have a bad habit of arrogantly preaching to me about the subject of Palestine ON MY BLOG when you haven’t the knowledge or interest I do on the subject. You dislike it when others discuss politics on your blog. I have done my best to respect that. I find it interesting you think you’re exempt from doing it on my blog. You could’ve re-posted it on your blog with your reply. But you wanted me to see it and kick me for my post that had nothing to do with you personally but the Dutch govt.
How in God’s name the Dutch could be so cold about a people being wiped out in a GENOCIDE when the Germans tried to do it to them blows my mind. Of all people to be so indifferent to the plight of Palestinians I never thought the Dutch would be because of their history. But it is the land of Theo van Gogh, Geert Wilders, and Pim Fortuyn, not to mention where the apartheid Dutch Boers of South Africa came from, so maybe I’m being too generous to The Netherlands.
And I know the incident didn’t happen in The Netherlands yesterday. It was about my seeing the video on VE day. But you didn’t ask for any clarification so determined were you to tell me off. ON MY BLOG.
So please. Inform YOURSELF before you start accusing and assuming.
