took some inspo from this and that post

tried my hardest to make him just a weird little dude. like you would take a look at him and go yeah if there was ever a guy you'd need to stick in the very back of the ship it would be him

do not get me wrong! i think the designs based off james ortiz are great! however i really wanted his human form to have this little guy energy that mr ortiz's visage doesn't really quite capture

that being said the hair + glasses is definitely based off of him

rocky doesn't really have a face as a rock so i decided to stick big ol goggles on his head to emulate that. (upon further thought maybe i could've also given him a mask... oh well. you'd miss out on his freckles in that case anyway) the green + grey in his hair and the freckles all over him are other bits based off his eridian form

on a similar note, the knee brace is kind of a nod to his weird split leg

his tattoos are most of the marks carved into him condensed onto his arms. i thought about giving him the measurement-based marks on his legs so there'd be something there too but figured that wouldn't really make sense to have there so not pictured they're on the flip side of his arms. this also includes the goodbye lines

his family crest is flipped from the orientation on his eridian arms bc it'd be awkward to put them together like that with human joints

his clothing's pretty practical for a guy who's job it is to run around and fix things; lots of pockets, sturdy boots, etc etc. the green sweater is based off what he wears in the books with some squiggles thrown in for flavour (and also bc he has a couple on his arms in rock form). the toolbelt and armband in the second one are things he has in the movie

the contrast between his usual clothing and his celebration clothing amuses me. three outfits of plain, practical clothing and then holy shit he's dressed to the nines!!
