He had been summoned by the heroes about 25 years ago and found their apocalyptic scenario rather amusing. He had indulged them, enjoying the cute fear that painted their faces any time he would play up his annoyance.

It was after the first year of interacting with them that he started to remember what it was like to be human. He began to realize that these mortals were more than just cute pets. After spending so much time ruling the dead, he really had forgotten what it was like to be alive.

So, he got to know them. Their likes, dislikes, what they did outside of the hero business, what their individual moral code was. It was fascinating to learn about lives before they ended, and to make friends with living breathing creatures again was like a breath of fresh air.

Phantom had slowly shed his regal shell he'd built up over the centuries, eventually deciding to take a small 40 year vacation and help out his new... friends full time.

Everything had been going so so well.

That is, until a villain got a little too close with a obnoxiously powerful amnesia spell.

They had planned on wiping Phantom's memories completely and using his vulnerability as a means of control. They did not account for the fact that Phantom was much older than his 25 year old shell would leave those to believe.

Danny: What the fuck..? What time is it?

John: God dammit. Fine. But stay there til I finish magically binding you. I can make you my familiar. But I can't just leave you to wander around free. Not after everything I've read about the ghost king in the sarcophagus doing

Danny: Okay okay! Anything just don't lock me in there again!

Later

Constantine: Okay... Pirah. You're my familiar now

Constantine: you get to be out of the box

Danny: no no fuck that I know that. But like. If I’m your familiar, don’t I have to follow you around and provide sassy and occasionally helpful commentary?

Constantine: no you can follow me around and shut the fuck up

Partially inspired by tsubaki's Phantom comic! This isn't set in the AU, I just read this comic and decided to have my own go at designing and writing a disability AU.

This first image is Cujo taking a break from being the world's goodest ghost dog, and the second is Cujo preforming the task of circling! This is where Cujo paces around Danny and his chair in a circle to create a barrier between him and other people in a crowd (pretend I drew Danny surrounded with other people in a crowd)

I guess, also, I need to master color theory to start doing painting styled works. My anime style and stubborn semiperfectionism with my art prevents me from properly trying new things but I rlly do wanna get better >o<
