(Anon who sent the last ask) Just wanted to let you know that you might want to take the second part of what I said with a grain of salt. I'm currently looking for the source and am having a hard time finding it and think I might have misremembered something. I'll keep on looking for it. interesting! i haven’t seen whatever you’re talking about but it wouldn’t surprise me if you’re right. 

the other rf games did have churches too, but i feel like it felt a lot more normal to have churches in those because iirc the dragons in those games weren’t exactly like. intelligent life forms??? i could be remembering wrong but i don’t think we hear the dragons in rf1/rf2 ever talk besides just like GRAHAHRGH (if even that much)?? same for oceans, those ones never talk (and actually die/give birth unlike the main series ones). i guess if venti can talk they probably can too (though maybe not the oceans ones since they don’t seem to be the same type) but they certainly don’t bother. so in a world where you only know about the dragon gods as ‘those big nasty dudes who come and wreck everything sometimes’ (like in rf1/rf2) or ‘those big guys in the sky we never interact with besides praying to sometimes’ (like in oceans) it feels more reasonable to have a pseudo christianity religion in town vs in rf4 where venti is clearly a god and everyone just knows and accepts that. maybe it varies by region because of that and frey just has some post-amnesia pseudo-christian religion comfort to offer venti that she picked up from wherever she’s from ????? (then again the last anon pointed out that everyone says they’re praying for you so that doesn’t make this make any more sense)

i also question if the church in oceans is even meant to be as christian as the ones in 1/2/frontier. because the dragon gods in that one were a way more prominent theme, the 3 sisters were dragon priestesses, and there was a shrine in the middle of town. so idk if the church goes along with that or we just have two religions in that town (do the 3 sisters attend church?? i dont remember but that’d make it even more confusing)??

was i just mashing A through all the dialogue in rf4 to miss both these gems. what the fuck i love it ??
