I barely have followers here, but here we go:

The Amazon Rainforest has been burning for the last 16 days straight. The Brazilian government says the wildfire is caused by the winter itself, since it doesn't rain a lot there... in a rainforest. It is actually, partially true. Winter is indeed a dry season and wildfires may happen, specially close to the Cerrado (a brazilian biome similar to the african Savanna), but what they're not telling us is that:

The deforestation has increased 80% since last year

The native peoples and animals are being slaughtered for their lands (legally protected green areas)

The government is hiding and lying about scientific data, saying that environmentalists and NGOs are communists trying to destroy the nation. They are brainwashing people to think that sustainability is terrible for the economy

Our Minister of Environment is couldn't care less about the environment and is only there to support the livestock producers and give them what they want. The President and his Minister won't put a single dollar on environmental safety

The wildfires are just so huge that its black smoke and ashes reached the skies of São Paulo, a state over 2.000 kilometers away from the Amazon.

We are hostages or our own government

I could just keep going all night about how our environment is being threatened by this new government. We need every single help we can possibly can.

These are Safe Shorts. They were made by Sandra Seilz after someone attempted to rape her. If the fabric is torn, an alarm will be sounded.

This is the Rape-aXe, invented by a South African doctor by the name of  Sonnet Ehlers. After interviewing a rape victim who wished she had teeth down there, she made this. If someone’s penis is inserted and pulled back out, the teeth will sink in, and can only be removed by a doctor.

The Killer Tampon (couldn’t find a site for it), made by retired anaesthetist Jaap Haumann. When penetration takes place, the sharp end will slice the offending appendage.

The Anti-Rape Belt (also couldn’t find a site), made by a group of Swedish teenagers led by Nadja Björk. It requires two hands to undo.

Anti-Rape Underwear/Bra (once again), as made by a group of Indian students. Will deliver an electric shock when met with unwanted advances, as well as sounding an alarm.

Undercover Colours. Made by 4 male undergraduates at North Carolina U, they change colours when in contact with chemicals or drugs that cause unconsciousness. Used in case you’re wary that your drink has been roofied.

These are just tools to help, but in addition to being mindful of your situations and staying safe, they can help when the worst happens.

- you have diy recipes in there where you can build different items, tools, furniture from resources you’ve found around the island

- you get lots of different materials to use to build things

- villagers appear to be camping out with you in the island

- real time clock is maintained

- new horizons has a southern hemisphere clock so seasons work for different hemispheres

- you go to tom nooks tent to craft items, like your axe

- Timmy will buy items from you that you don’t need

- you can buy items from him too like flowers saplings, tools, furniture

- tools seem to have a different quality, not just silver and gold, but ones like “flimsy”

- you have a nook miles app like airline milage programs. you get miles for doing different activities around the island. 

- you come into the game on a plane this time!

- you can exchange miles for activities and items it seems

- you can get miles for picking weeds for example

- you chop trees to get items like hardwood that you need for crafting

- you can call another player in with your Nook Phone to help you out

- you can share a joycon to play locally with family or friends

- other players can live on your island like in other games, but your other characters can play at the SAME time, not just separately.

- it’s worth noting alone that the graphics are obviously totally revamped (not copied from new leaf), and we have brand new music too! this should be expected but ya, it’s still good news

- lots of very nice sound effects for you asmr lovers ;) they put a lot of work into the sound design

- the wind on your island will actually affect how the trees move. immersion!

- it doesn’t appear like you’re the mayor this time, you’re just a player like in earlier games but you still have a LOT of control. maybe this will change later on as you progress?

- you can have up to 8 players in a SINGLE island. 8. 

- online play returns, should be obvious but worth note

- you’ve got a camera app this time, you can zoom in and out, add filters, use your emotions (which are returning)
