one of the things about trafalgar law is that while he’s of course mourning rosinante the man, he’s also mourning the future he lost. rosinante gave him back not only his will to live, but his faith in humanity. told him they’d leave doflamingo and the marines behind, that it’d be him and law together sailing the seas. but instead rosinante died, leaving law to endure another tragedy. he makes friends, he starts a crew, but in dressrosa he says ‘for the last 13 years the only thing I lived for is a chance to kill doflamingo.’ he left his crew on zou and tells robin he never planned he’d see them again — fully expecting to die. when doflamingo asks him what the one thing in the world he wanted, he said ‘for cora back’. cora wanted him to be free, and even tho law sails the seas traveling the lands with heart tattoos w the heart pirates, he still misses a version of his life he never had
