Someday
I stopped watching TVD midway through season 5 and I don’t fully know what happens after that. I’ve been wanting to write again for a long time, but I can’t seem to post anything. I found this drabble on my computer and thought I would share it. It’s set in an alternate ending to TVD. I figured the gang would probably always be on the run. Something simple and fluffy. Not my best work, but being hyper picky is what caused this extended absence of mine.
Somehow, life only seems to get more complicated through the years. Crazy doesn’t stop at the Mystic Fall’s town line. Instead, insanity appeared to be a natural state that ruled the lives of Caroline and her friends. Sirens, Silas, Witches, Curses, death, rebirth—all of it had come and gone and yet not even a decade had passed since Caroline stood on that float and waved to her subjects as she was declared Miss Mystic Falls.
It seemed like a lifetime ago and, in many ways, it was. Now not only was she technically dead, but she was a mother—far earlier than was on her original human plan.
Her children were perfect, though their upbringing was proving to be less so. Given one crisis or another, the girls hadn’t had a proper home yet and they were bordering on three years old.
Little Lizzie didn’t bat an eye. She was as tough as her namesake. Whether it was a car, a couch, or a rundown motel, Elizabeth never struggled to get a good night’s rest. Her sister, on the other hand, was the exact opposite.
Without just the right amount of cuddling and good night stories, Josie wouldn’t—or rather couldn’t—sleep.
Tonight, they were in a motel off route-66, waiting for Alaric. Lizzie, as per usual, was fast asleep—and Josie was staring at the ceiling.
“Can you tell me a story?” she asks.
Caroline, who had no shortage of tales to tell, walked over to her daughter and settled so that Josie could rest her head on her lap.
“Which one would you like to hear?” Caroline asks.
“The one about someday,” Josie replies eagerly.
Of course, Caroline thinks. Of all the stories she’d told, only one had enchanted Josie so. Unfortunately, it was the one that Caroline herself wasn’t sure she was fully ready to accept. Still, as Josie clung tighter to her mother’s lap, Caroline knew it was the only tale that would allow her daughter to rest.
And so, she settled into the familiar tune, “once upon a time, there was girl who never felt like anyone truly loved her. Even though she had many friends and a town that adored her, the girl still felt like she was alone.”
“Was she sad?” Josie questions.
“From time to time,” Caroline admits, “though she would never let anyone know how she really felt. One day, after riding in a chariot with a boy who she thought could be her prince, the girl fell into a deep slumber. When she awoke she was different than before, stronger. Even so, there was something missing.”
“Love,” Josie filled in, knowing the story by heart.
“Not just any love,” Caroline clarified, “a great love. The kind that can outshine the sun. She’d searched for it all throughout the land, but every time she’d thought she’d found it, it would shatter.”
Pausing, Caroline looked down at her daughter who was looking up at her, completely enraptured. This was Josie’s favorite part, “that was until a big bad wolf came storming into town. At first, he was careless and unkind. The girl thought that anyone without a heart couldn’t possibly grow to love, but as time went on the wolf fell in love with the girl. He showed her parts of himself that he’d kept hidden for a millennium. For her, he opened his heart, and for him she allowed herself to admit that she deserved to be loved.”
Stroking her daughter’s hair, Caroline continues “though the two were made for each other, their timing wasn’t right. Soon their lives were disentangled. He had to leave and she had to stay. But while they couldn’t be together yet, the girl knew something deep in her heart.”
Josie held her breath, waiting with pure anticipation, “the girl knew that the wolf would always love her and that someday they would pick up their story again. He’d told her once, that one day she’d show up at his doorstep. At the time she’d scoffed, but now—when her world seems full of uncertainty—she knows that he was leaving the door open. Giving her a promise, a promise of a day—someday—when she could finally have a great love.”
After a few moments, Josie’s breathing began to slow. Just as she was about to fall asleep, Josie whispers, “Mommy, what if someday never comes?”
Caroline pauses for a second, having thought the same thing to herself a few times over the years.
And though Josie is asleep when she settles on an answer, Caroline says “there are so many days in forever, someday is bound to be one of them.”
But that is the beginning of another story.

“Do I Like You Back Or Am I Idealizing You For Giving Me Attention” a 300 page research paper by me
I’m so Sorry
I’ve never been invested in outlaw queen, but I hate that your ship seems to have ended this way. Hook had the prospect of moving on to a better place. What happened to Robin wasn’t fair. I’m sorry. Regina has lost two great loves; she obviously found comfort knowing Daniel moved one, but it appears (as of now) that Robin was handed a fate worse than death. For a show that’s all about hope, this seems so unnecessary.
OUAT Speculation
Did anyone else get the impression that Henry might be the one to die next episode? To me the funeral shot in the promo is irrelevant, they could have a funereal for Hook at the beginning of the episode now that he is “truly gone” and then he could come back to life in the end.
The reason I think it could be Henry is because I was getting some low-key vibes in the underworld that he might want to stay there. He is the author and the pen is broken so I don’t think it can come back to the living world. Also he finally had a place helping all those people discover their unfinished business. For a majority of this season as well as throughout the series Henry has been trying to prove himself as a hero. It’s basically the “I’m not a kid anymore” phase of his development.
What if he sacrifices himself to save Regina, Emma, or even Charming? What if he loses his life knowing that he will serve a greater purpose in the underworld? As the author he would always know that the people he loves are okay. Henry is no longer the little kid who can pull everyone together while sitting on the sidelines and though I think the author is an interesting concept, it definitely is dangerous from a writer’s perspective. For example if Henry writes Hook back to life then what’s the point? Having all-powerful characters doesn’t leave room for high stakes. Why do anything if you can just have someone write it for you? Making Henry the author is the most pointless plot move in history if they don’t do anything with it.
Which is why I think he is going to die. What better way to “shake Storybrook to its core” than to kill off the kid who started the narrative? I think Henry is going to prove himself to be a hero, sacrifice himself, and then tell his moms it’s okay because he’ll be able to help people move on (and if only they could do the same). That’s sort of what I think is going to happen. The show has been leaving me kind of stale lately--a few great scenes here and there, but for the most part it’s been pretty lackluster. Personally, I think killing off Henry could prove to have the largest emotional impact on characters and prompt the most development.
“If you honestly think Klaus would go back to someone who views him as an evil monster, then you thought wrong.”
Yeah, she thinks he’s such an evil monstrosity that she went to New Orleans with her two children to find him and seek out his protection. Okay…

I AM SCREAMING
All Work, No Play
I’ve been in a funk. I hope the drabbles I have planned for AU week will help me overcome! This is for day one, AU/AH. I hope you all like it--I’ve never participated in the AU weeks before, so I’m excited to see how this goes. (Caroline is a little bitter, but you write what you know so...”)
Ah, the life of the rich and annoying--just one reasons why Caroline Forbes hates vacations. Taking time off only means one thing for Caroline: work. And her job, well it meant serving the people whose “time off” means leaving the country and spending exorbitant amounts of money. The strips of cloth the blonde laying on the dock called a bathing suit probably costs enough to make a dent in Caroline’s tuition fees.
Having to work her way through college for the past four years has made Caroline \equally resilient as she was bitter. Her friends went to frat parties and blew their summer earnings on shoes and alcohol. Caroline saved every penny she made and worked her ass off to maintain her scholarship. Now she was just about to get the diploma that she’s been working so hard for, but she was also losing her patience. She must wanted to be done.
Fortunately for her financial planning, Whitmore has a ridiculously long winter session--nearly a month and a half. While her friends traveled home to Mystic Falls, Caroline went to work for the Mikaelson’s Cruise Empire. There wasn’t much awaiting for her at home anyways.
“I hate that you never take a break,” Caroline’s mom had said over the phone before the ship left port.
“You know I don’t have any other choice, mom.”
After her mother’s battle with cancer a few years back, they didn’t have the extra money. Liz Forbes had always been a workaholic, but recently it was out of necessity. Chemo and college were expensive--and the Forbes women weren’t ones to drown in debt.
Instead of Christmas cookies with mom, Caroline spent her break working a cruise in the Caribbean. Most young women would love a chance to bask in the eternal equator sun. Now, call it the pessimist in her, but Caroline could hardly justify working to maintain the lifestyle of the spoiled rotten.
She’s been employed on the Mikaelson cruise line for the past four years and for the first half of her career it was wonderful. The coworkers are friendly and the food is divine; however, during her junior year things took a turn for the annoying.
Now instead of peaceful guests, Caroline had to deal with the heirs of the Mikaelson family along with their entourage.
“Caroline, love, another bourbon when you get the chance,” her least favorite calls from his corner of the bar.
Cursing, Caroline serves him, “this isn’t a bourbon!” Klaus calls after her and she rolls her eyes.
“It’s a bright and sunny morning. Drink your orange juice, get some vitamin D.” she suggests, going back to clean the bar.
This was just an average morning for the two of them. Their banter had started good-natured, but Klaus was an entitled ass and soon ruined their budding relationships. Between his blatant pickup lines and crude comments, it’s no wonder Caroline considered him the worst of the Mikaelsons--and that’s saying something.
Kol is a flirt, Finn a bore, and Rebekah’s a bitch. Really the only tolerable Mikaelson is Elijah, and--unfortunately--he rarely stayed aboard for long and his wife Katherine was more insufferable than the rest of the Mikaelson lot.
Just like every year, Caroline works through the breaks and eventually she needs an escape, so when they dock at the small french island, she takes full advantage of her few hours of freedom.
A moment of solitude on a cruise ship never freaking happens. She dorms with other employees and is constantly surrounded by people. The second she hits solid ground, Caroline’s gone--creating as much space between her and the ship as possible.
The second she’s alone time slows down. Taking in a deep breath she basks in the summer sun and--fuck.
Okay, as much as she’d like to think otherwise, time management is not her greatest skill. In high school she’d been part of dozens of different activities, but she was only able to remain punctual because she had no other option. Her schedule was created out of necessity, on her own Caroline always managed to waltz in a little late.
So while enjoying her sacred moment to herself Caroline may or may not have forgotten to reboard the ship--sue her.
“I hope you speak French, love.” Klaus’s annoyingly familiar voice calls out from behind her and she can tell he’s smirking.
Internally cursing, she thinks Of all the people the universe sends to help me in the moment I get the least helpful one imaginable!
“Go away,” she demands.
“And leave you alone in your time of need?”
“Could you?” She asks in a sickeningly sweet voice.
Chuckling, Klaus follows her, “we’re feisty today love.”
Sighing, Caroline turns to face him, “why are you even here, shouldn’t you be on the fucking ship?”
Taken aback by her language, he replies, “come now, sweetheart, is that any way to talk to your boss?”
Rolling her eyes she sneers, “consider me off duty.” Way off duty, she thinks to herself.
“Then I guess it wouldn't be inappropriate for me to ask you out to dinner,” Klaus shoot back, completely unfazed by her obvious frustration and disdain.
“No,” Caroline agrees, “but it would be grotesque for other reasons.”
He let’s out a bellow of laughter and she eyes him suspiciously, “why are you even here?”
“And leave port without you, love? Now why would I want to do that?” He takes a step closer and Caroline finds herself enjoying his close proximity a little too much.
“Can you pretend to be normal, just once?” She snarks, trying to clear her head. Seriously, what’s up with this guy, she thinks.
“You’ll have plenty of time to find that out for yourself, love,” Klaus says offhandedly while walking towards the local town.
“Wait, what?!” She calls after him.
“The next boat out of here won’t be able to make it ‘till the morning.”
And just like that she’s stuck on a french speaking island with only a rich, entitled asshole as her translator.
Yup, she really hates vacations.
