Can somebody please explain to me how the fuck it is that I'm suppose to find a fucking boyfriend, get married, and have kids whilst we're in the middle of a fucking pandemic and I'm broke? Actually, even better, can someone ask my mom for me how the fuck I'm supposed to just piss out grandkids for her?

‘redemption arc’ this and ‘redemption arc’ that
wheres an arc where the hero gets morally corrupted by a villain and switches sides and becomes an even bigger threat as a result
where is my bastardization arc
We have some of these. Harley Quinn for example. Ultimately the case is that people usually use it as a background for a how the villain became the villain. People as a whole would rather see what good is in the evils than the evils in the good.
Continuing with Harley for an example, the fact that as a psychologist she not only fell in love with her patient but also became as crazy as he was is seen as her ultimate downfall and thus the reasoning behind her villainy. Society uses that as a lesson to young girls. Be careful who you fall for and keep your wits about you. Stay away from the bad boy. What nobody looks at is that outside of being a well trained Dr., she really wasn't enjoying her life. She tended towards the meek and innocent and that is was lead to her falling in with the Joker. After her turn towards villainy, she's open with herself and knows what she wants, she's unapologetic and she goes after it all however she wants to. For her, it's freedom. Societally speaking, we've never been at a point where we accept that for what it is. Not to mention the levels of misogyny involved.
To answer your question in short, society teaches and learns lessons via stories. Historically, they are meant to be seen as the ideal. Good always beats evil. The hero gets the girl. The dragon is slain. And when stories go out of the norm, they are culturally questioned and usually not widely popular. Especially if they bring into question morals and values we aren't familiar or comfortable with. Writers, story tellers, they give what people want and what will be accepted. And, though this is not always the case, it is what is popular and what happens.
Fear is not consent
I WILL REBLOG THIS FOREVER. F O R E V E R
For those in the back;
FEAR IS NOT CONSENT
FEAR IS NOT CONSENT!!!

If anyone every tries to lecture me on why copyrighted plants are a good thing I will kick them in the throat
A copyrighted plant!? A copyrighted plant. A Copyrighted. Plant. I... What even is a copyrighted plant? I can understand indigenous species. I can understand a copyrighted GMO process. But a legit, copyrighted plant? What?
check out this absolutely godawful album title i had to see at the record store today
if you go through the notes the members of this band found the post and are taking shots at their ex drummer who is also in the notes responding to them
if you don’t wanna scroll through 7000+ notes to find the discourse, here it is presented in screenshot form
additionally: “my fursona is a glock” and “things are most beautiful just as they’re about to end” for your listening pleasure
I fucking love Tumblr. Thank you so much.
Bold looks coming out of the country that banned Muslim women from wearing Burkas and Niqābs. .
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK
Holy shit they really did that???
Yeah, they used a pretense of “hiding your face in public is problematic due to fuck if I know I just want to be islamophobic and pretend it’s just laicity.”
France has a big islamophobia problem.
France is super against anyone who’s not Christian, white, cis, able, etc. They’re also hugely misogynistic.
Which is also incredibly humourous because historically speaking, the French were incredibly sexually promiscuous and it's been touted multiple times that a few kings had men for "bed warmers" as they were called. More so than the English and Spanish.

Does anybody else ever feel like they aren't where they're supposed to be? Like something went amiss in your timeline and the place you're at in life is just not what was supposed to happen?
Lately, especially since this covid thing crept in, I've had this feeling almost ten fold. As if there was a step I should have taken and didn't so now I'm here instead. I've never truly believed in the idea of fate, for ones life to already be mapped out before them. It seems in all those stories of prophecies, to know them was to bring them about. We've not known our destinies, our fates, for years. We no longer consult the oracle's of old. So, how can the prophecies we know nothing of affect us in the here and now? Perhaps, the answer lies in this feeling. Maybe, when we get this feeling, it's apart of the prophecies we are connected to taking shape, or crumbling before us.
Ultimately, our choices change our lives. Every choice makes a difference. A step back is not always negative, and a step forward not always positive. I do believe in this. Perhaps, the feeling we get, is instead, a feeling of moving in a negative direction. One that will, in the end, have a less than positive impact on the way our life's change. So then, if this is true, how do we remove this feeling? Do we try to move on in a positive direction, or do we take the negative impact and try and flip it to positive? Right now, not having gone through college has affected me negatively, but as covid is conveniently occuring four years since my high school graduation, I would have been a senior trying to figure out how I'm going to graduate, rather than a furloughed worked wondering when my next paycheck will be, and thousands of dollars more in debt than I am already.
Maybe I am not where I am supposed to be. Maybe I never will be. Where I am, in this moment, is not ideal to me right now, but where I could have been is almost worse. We don't have to justify how we feel now, but saying we've had it better or worse. We simply are in the here and the now and must learn to feel what we feel. I hurt because I feel lost in this time of uncertainty. I may have a roof over my head and food in my stomach that I don't have to worry about, but my hurt and worry is no less valid than someone who epitomizes that struggle. It will get better, we have to believe that.
For now, feel what you feel in the moment. And stop worrying how others feel about your feelings. You are valid. Your pain is valid. Your happiness is valid. All of you.
Maybe Tumblr is the right place to ask this
Maybe it isnt
Imma ask anyways
To the non white people of Tumblr:
Is there, anywhere in the near future, a stopping point? Is there a glass ceiling we haven't hit yet? Is there something so significantly consequential that must take place?
When was the last time something happened to you, negatively or otherwise, that you didn't stop to ask yourself, "Is it because I'm...."?
As a person who has gone through long term mental and emotional abuse causing myself to believe I am below everyone else, I have to wonder. Is there a point at which you cross the line of fighting for a cause and playing the victim? Is there a point at which you stop seeing the need to fight and create more victims? Is there a point at which you can see a white person and not think they hate you? Is there a point at which instead of assuming someone doesn't like because you're not white, you check your own characteristics and figure out if maybe they dislike you for another reason? Is there a point at which we can make that first question "is it because I'm....", the last question you ask? Not because it shouldn't be questioned, but because it's no longer such a deep seeded issue.
Don't get me wrong here. White people fucked up. They destroyed the beautiful lands that America once was. They nearly decimated an entire race of people and grew a nation from their graves off the backs of bought and paid for people. Whites have done wrong. However, I wish to give a bit of a history lesson. The Irish that came over, they were also slaves, just by another name. In fact, anyone who came over here whom didn't directly pay their own way were slaves. They came here to make their lives better, and never really got the opportunity because instead of earning their way out of servitude, they were forced to stay their whole lives. Some even past that, their children taking on their debts.
Thing is though, all of those people, everyone who lived in the days of slavery, they're dead.
Every single one of them.
There is not a single person alive who can actively say they remember life as a slave in America. Not one of them can say they remember owning a slave in America.
That being said, there is a whole generation that is dying off right now. They are the last remnants of the days before Martin Luther King Jr. Once they are gone, American will not have known segregation.
That's not the end of it, I know. There are things that have occured since MLK's assassination that have stirred things up far more than they ever should have been.
But why not remember what he said the next time you think " it must be because I'm..." Because that was not his message. His message was one of peace. One of harmony. One of cohabition. Not one of who hurt who more. Not one of who is more at fault. Not one of who should take the blame. Not one of an eye for an eye. But one of ending the battle.
So I ask now, what can white people do? What is it that they haven't done as a race to mend relations? Is it truly the 40 acres and a mule? Because the history behind that (and the logistics of it) have proven why that wouldn't work. I'm at a loss. White people try to ask questions, try to dig deeper to learn and understand. And they get booted out and told off. And the yelled at for portraying people of colour incorrectly.
This can't be fixed without conversation. It can't be fixed by assuming all white people are dumb ass racists. It can't be fixed by assuming coloured people just want it all. It has to be fixed by sitting down and talking about it. Because both sides are ignorant. White people don't know the struggle? Give them an explanation.
But for the love of god, take five minutes and actually ask yourself if the reason your daughter's principal is telling her she can't have coloured hair extensions is actually because she's black or if it's just part of the dress code. Or if you were turned down for the part because you're black, or because the other guy genuinely had a better singing voice for the character. Or if people dislike a character because they're black, or they were just a genuinely dislikable character. I have seen so many things telling me I'm racist that I genuinely am starting to believe it. All because I didn't like Martha as a Doctor Who companion. I didn't like Clara either. Or a handful of other characters that have popped up.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is, the generations in which racism was basically ingrained in them from birth are going away. There are fewer people in this world who genuinely don't like you because you're black. But if you keep assuming people don't like you because you are something, well then that's how people are going to see that thing. If I say people don't like me because I'm blue eyed, eventually, people are going to hate me for it, if only because I think that to be my most defining trait. Let people hate you because you have a better voice than them. Let people hate you because you're prettier than them. Or because you can cook better. Stop letting them hate you because you're not the right color. They didn't turn you down because you're black, they turned you down because you're too tall.
This whole thing was brilliant.
the entitlement….i swear only yt people..
If you don’t feel like reading, I’ll make spark notes:
- I’m better than you because I’m “healthy”
- stop buying things so I can have them
- my sense of entitlement should be enough to get my way.

I do have to say though, the lack of yeast and other leavening agents is downright unnecessary and caused almost entirely by people who are bored and want pretty Instagram photos. Or to involve themselves in online "who can bake the biggest loaf" challenges. There are kids who are still in school that need that for classes. My brother was asked to make pizza and soft pretzels. Except that he couldnt because there literally is no yeast in any of the local stores that are open. So he can't do his school project. His cooking class assignment. For a grade. So he can be a sophomore next year. All this kids in his class have a similar problem. Kids around the country are having this issue. Because of that dumb challenge. And because people are bored. Cause y'all want pictures. I get it if you're feeding your family, I hella understand the need to do something moderately productive while we're all stuck at home bored. But damn guys really? All the yeast? All of it? I'll have to go to a women's health clinic just to find more. Damn.

📸 @jermainehortonphotography ・・・ Good Morning World …. Lets talk about this Photo Session and why it happened. A beautiful young soul named Marian Scott was denied her school pictures because of the Red streaks in her hair. ( Here is the original link to the story https://www.facebook.com/WILXNicoleBuchmann/posts/3014390945297769 ) When I heard about this story I was furious as a parent because the first thing I thought about was the impact of what this would do to such a beautiful little girl. I recached out to @nicole_joy_3 of @wilxtv who covered the story and she got me in contact with the parents. We set a date and I drove from Chicago to @procamphoto to do our OWN photoshoot of this amazing beautiful little girl. I want to thank @pamelajoyblackman CEO of @joymanagementinc who was the angel who purchased items for this shoot from @donitavann ( Vanndalz) (The outfits were amazing)/ Special thanks to Owner and CEO @miekajoi_ of @richgirlcandy who donated her amazing pieces who truly made Marian feel so special and appreciated. Im so blessed to have been apart of this to give her an amazing day that showed her that she truly is beautiful and her hair color was the BOMB! Of course we kept it for the shoot!

This is precious. Really. Girl is adorable. But omg people. Really? There are rules and dress code policies in place at schools for a reason. If you don't like them, petition to have them changed, or find a different mode of education for your kid. But quit complaining because what you want and what the school allows are two different things. There might actually be a reason for it beyond your petty assumption that the world is against you.
Because DreamWorks was concerned about theological accuracy, Jeffrey Katzenberg (former Disney chairman) decided to call in Biblical scholars, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim theologians, and Arab American leaders to help his film be more accurate and faithful to the original story. After previewing the developing film, all these leaders noted that the studio executives listened and responded to their ideas, and praised the studio for reaching out for comment from outside sources.
The animation team for The Prince of Egypt included 350 artists from 34 different nations. Careful consideration was given to depicting the ethnicities of the ancient Egyptians, Hebrews, and Nubians properly.
Both character design and art direction worked to set a definite distinction between the symmetrical, more angular look of the Egyptians versus the more organic, natural look of the Hebrews and their related environments. The backgrounds department, headed by supervisors Paul Lasaine and Ron Lukas, oversaw a team of artists who were responsible for painting the sets/backdrops from the layouts. Within the film, approximately 934 hand-painted backgrounds were created.
