The thing about capvers isn’t that it was illegal, or the war, or how it ended, it’s that Havers saw the captain in all his ridiculous, odd, eccentric, autistic-coded, oft mocked ways, and fell utterly in love. He looked at him with the biggest heart eyes and adored him for the traits that even the other ghosts saw as the captains greatest faults. What greater love is there than that? For someone to love you for the very thing that everyone else would love you despite.
somehow I forgot that the Captain was working on the Limpet mine. so he could've also been an engineer outside of the military.
i understand thomas because I too would duel for mary shelley

Fanny is so interesting cause she was at the Tail End of the Edwardian era
(and some might argue, that *technically* ended in 1910 but she counts because she died before ww1)
Fanny just represents the Edwardian Era because she's just
A) older
and
B) just happens to be outwardly old fashioned, even by the standards of her time.
But she is barely Edwardian time period wise, man. but she also would have lived most of her adult life (and all of her childhood) in the Victorian period.
She was born in 1854, the Victorian period lasted from 1837 to 1901. so she would've been about 47 when that changed.
Fanny is an Edwardian lady because that's when she died, but mentally she's just as much a Victorian.
other things the Captain wouldve been better at than being a soldier
Guy that shushes people at libraries. Not a librarian, just the guy who shushes people if they get too loud
Hallway monitor
A ticket stand operator
Guy that edits spreadsheets (I think that is a job?)
Old man who goes into a coffee shop and when they ask what he wants to order he just says "regular coffee" and they ask what kind though and he holds up the line for way too long
That one teacher I had who was also ex military who would tap people's desks with a yard stick if they fell asleep/weren't paying attention.
knowing the captain was literally based off of people like no.6 from ben's life genuinely makes me laugh sm
i really wanted to add that the same teacher retired after the Nerf Gun Incident but idk how. I think this would happen to the captain tho.
things the Captain is older than**
**if he was born from 1898-1900
1. sliced bread (1928)
2. the *modern* ballpoint pen (not ballpoint pens, that was 1888. the modern ballpoint pen in 1938.)
3. post it notes (1980)
4. Rubik's Cubes (1974)
5. Modern Tanks (complicated)
6. The Model T Automobile (1908)
7. Modern CPR (1960)
8. Available IV fluid technology** (it existed since the 1600s but it became more common after ww2.. and it was different. a lot of stuff changed between 1900 and Now with that)
9. Popularity of the t-shirt as regular, everyday wear** (it existed. it became part of U.S army uniform in 1913. then it became popular after world war two.)
10. Most of Television.. it was starting to be a thing when he was born. but it did not take off until after he was dead.
11. Talking movies (1927)
12. The first fully electric typewriter (1902)
he found me

do you ever think about how fanny and the captain were alive at the same time, just briefly? if the captain was born in 1900 or so and fanny died in 1912 then he wouldve been abt 12 when she was murdered.
Most annoying ghost to have as a coworker
