Can’t stop thinking about Dick Grayson and how he was there first. He was the first robin, the first to balance out Bruce’s darkness, the first partner Bruce ever had. He was there when Jason came into the manor, and he was there when Jason died. He witnessed Tim being the new light to Bruce’s darkness, because now Dick had enough darkness in himself that he couldn’t be that for Bruce anymore. He witnessed that darkness seep into Tim through bruises that littered his skin, leftover from his dead brother’s fists. He was there when Damian pushed his way to the position of Batman’s Son, and he stung when Damian sneered his last name, Grayson, as a reminder that while he was the first, he was never truly Bruce’s. He saw Cass join the family, a calmer memory of the golden child he used to be. He was there when Duke lost both of his parents, but was still able to hope that one day he would get them back. Dick donned the cowl, when that was the last thing he ever wanted to do, but he couldn’t let that burden fall to anybody else. Everyone expected something from Dick. They expected him to be a light in the family, because they still saw him as the thirteen year old robin who’d had hope. He was the ‘pillar’ of the family, the one who always had a witty remark, the one who could smile through the dark. (The smile was fake and the wit was hollow.) Dick was there from the very beginning, and saw every shatter and break in his family. And he watched as they fought, and argued, and screamed, and blamed, and remembered a time when he wore a yellow collar and green shorts and was embraced every night and nothing was expected of him and he was whole.

I know that huge homes are great for pets but also did it fucking occur to you that some people don’t have the room or money for those?

Nobody has the right to own an animal. If you can provide a home for an animal in need of one, you have to be prepared to also provide it with all that it needs to be happy and healthy. More than adequate space, stimulation, fresh water, food, healthcare, and cleanliness is ALL your responsibility to provide. If you can’t do that, you are not prepared to have that animal.

And you should be willing to change plans if you find the animal you want isn’t going to fit in your space or budget. Ask around. Find something that you do have the space, money, and time for.
