“Honestly, Tones, this soup’s the stuff.”

“Yeah, well, some minestrone mom used to make. Followed the recipe, added some more spice and love, and now it’s in your warm bowl.”

“Thanks.” Steve smiled into the warm, red dish, then back at Tony, who was looking away.

“Hey, I’m a mechanic, right? I fix stuff. By making stuff. Don’t sweat it.”

Steve, holding his warm bowl in his hands, grasped Tony’s from across the table. “Tony. Relax. I’m here. You’re here. We’re okay.”

“Oh, shit, Steve, I’m gonna-”

Steve brought his minestrone to sit beside his partner.
