Saw your post on Sansa and Jon resemblance to the pre-story characters and I whole heartedly agree on Elia/Sansa similarities. But dont agree on Jon. I feel he has nothing of Lyanna and Rhaegar (thank gods he doesnt because those are two selfish people imo). Jon resembles the most in character (personality, values, and behavior) it can be R+L=J all they want but thank god Jon took after Ned.
Show (aka the reason for which most Jonsas exist) Jon resemble Ned because they erased huge part of Jon's conflicts, complexities and personality traits from the book counterpart to force him to being like Ned. Exactly as show destroyed Sansa's personality making her cold and distant and aggressive instead of diplomatic and lady like as in books:
His cousin Ser Lancel had been brought down by Ser Kevan, the first time he'd left his sickbed since the battle. He looks ghastly. Lancel's hair had turned white and brittle, and he was thin as a stick. Without his father beside him holding him up, he would surely have collapsed. Yet when Sansa praised his valor and said how good it was to see him getting strong again, both Lancel and Ser Kevan beamed. She would have made Joffrey a good queen and a better wife if he'd had the sense to love her. He wondered if his nephew was capable of loving anyone.
(A Storm of Swords - Tyrion VIII)
They did it because they know that mysoginistic male Jon fans would have love to see their favorite boy being just as his lord father Ned. They made Arya a cold hearted killer that hates other women (the whole most girls are stupids shit) instead of the empathic and passionate girl that she is in books exactly because they know those same male fans would love it, and they were right.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But let's talk about it by using Jon's favorite sibilings : Robb and Arya.
Arya is canonically the only person that make Jon smile and the only one that was able to understand him because she is like him:
And Arya β¦ he missed her even more than Robb, skinny little thing that she was, all scraped knees and tangled hair and torn clothes, so fierce and willful. Arya never seemed to fit, no more than he had β¦ yet she could always make Jon smile. He would give anything to be with her now, to muss up her hair once more and watch her make a face, to hear her finish a sentence with him.
(A Game of Thrones - Jon III)
She is the only one that make him feel complete and see. But we also know that Arya is meant to resemble Lyanna not only physically but also in personality :
"Lyanna might have carried a sword, if my lord father had allowed it. You remind me of her sometimes. You even look like her."
(A Game of Thrones - Arya II)
This is enough to know that the author is trying to say to us how Jon would have interacted with Lyanna. Surely he would have be a mama's boy. Also Ned loved Lyanna very dearly, so much so that he refused to say the truth to Catelyn.
Whoever Jon's mother had been, Ned must have loved her fiercely, for nothing Catelyn said would persuade him to send the boy away.
(A Game of Thrones - Catelyn II)
But which one of her parents Arya resembles the most? Catelyn. They both have a vengeful side, they both are ready to show up that women are not weak, they both described their heart as a void. Jon is way more like Catelyn that like Ned. And we see it even better with Robb.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Robb's death and Jon's death made it clear how their fathers actually are:
Robb died to preserve the honor of a young lady in the same way Ned tried to protect the honor of Ashara Dayne and in the same way Ned died for him trying to do the honorable thing and save Myrcella and Tommen and say the truth. Robb is Ned's son not Jon.
Robb like Ned, and also like Sansa and Bran, and hated to be in the actual position of power. Bran and Sansa also share with Ned the feeling of guilty/frustration into being the unexpected heir.
Robb cursed, in a fury of despair. "Bloody Rickard Karstark as well.
And Theon Greyjoy, Walder Frey, Tywin Lannister, and all the rest of them. Gods be good, why would any man ever want to be king?
(A Storm of Swords - Catelyn III)
"Sweetling," he told her, "you are heir to Winterfell." He grabbed her again, pleading that she must not do this thing, and Sansa wrenched free and left him swaying beneath the heart tree. She had not visited the godswood since.
But she had not forgotten his words, either. The heir to Winterfell, she would think as she lay abed at night. It's your claim they mean to wed. Sansa had grown up with three brothers. She never thought to have a claim, but with Bran and Rickon dead . . . It doesn't matter, there's still Robb, he's a man grown now, and soon he'll wed and have a son.
(A Storm of Swords - Sansa II)
It made Bran feel queer when they called him prince, though he was Robb's heir, and Robb was King in the North now.
(A Clash of Kings - Bran I)
Jon is NOT like this! Book Jon unlike Show Jon wanted that role, in a way that Ned would never:
When Jon had been very young, too young to understand what it meant to be a bastard, he used toΒ dreamΒ that one day Winterfell might be his. Later, when he was older, he had been ashamed of those dreams.Β
(A Storm of Swords - Jon XI)
Why am I so angry? he asked himself, but it was a stupid question. Lord of Winterfell. I could be the Lord of Winterfell.
My father's heir.
(A Storm of Swords - Jon XII)
Jon also died exactly as Rhaegar did : being "egoistical".
Yes, Rhaegar's action were a betray to his duties to save a northern warrior girl that he loved..exactly as Jon. Jon betrayed his own duties to save a northern looking girl that looked and acted exactly as the girl that Rhaegar wanted to save more than his duties and both Jon and Rhaegar died thinking about Arya and Lyanna.
JON IS RHAEGAR AND LYANNA'S SON IN EVERY WAY. FULLY.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
ps. I thought that Jonsa liked to say that Sansa looks like Catelyn but is like Ned and Jon look like Ned but is like Catelyn and now? you people switched? Jon is like Lyanna with Rhaegar's taste.
pps. it is evident that you are always the same anon but i am happy to say that now you are not pretending to be a not Jonsa.
