world building + ch. 1 - “You Say Yes”
————————
This story starts off during the aftermath of Sevika and Vi’s fight. (Season 1, Ep 5)
Since this is a x Reader fic, the only things that will be mentioned about your appearance are things that correlate with your past, body type (minimal), height, and descriptions about you that don’t involve skin tone or hair type so it’s inclusive to all. I appreciate any feedback that makes this feel more inclusive!
You’re 38 years old and shorter than Sevika (no exact height)
Your hair is medium length but always held up so it doesn’t get in your face during work. You have a muscular-ish build that you normally conceal beneath a baggy work button up (it’s never buttoned up). You own a mechanic shop where you work on mechanical prosthetic limbs and other machines. Your right eye is damaged—nobody knows what happened to it, and you won't tell anyone. The iris and pupil are colored with various shades of gray, and a scar running from your eyebrow to your cheek. There's discoloration around your eye, with purple hues underneath and beside it, resembling a permanent bruise.
You’re from a place called Greeves. First you were in the military, it was mandatory there when you turned 20. You planned to stay the 2 years, get by without making a sound and then get back to your life- your dreams. But you were just a little too skilled with a gun, a little too good at throwing a punch— and way too good at fixing shit that was far beyond broken. And suddenly two years became twelve. At 32 you felt a sprinkle of freedom before being “hired” as a mercenary for another four years before finally getting away, setting up shop in Zaun (after proving to others you were able to be trusted) and living in the small apartment right above it.
You’ve killed a lot of people in your past…an insane amount.
People wouldn’t think you can do what you can. You’re generally polite to others, especially your clients. To your enemy- they’re immediately met with the stoic, cold version of you. But if someone started off knowing who you really were, seeing the cold version might make them laugh. Like your best friend.
And soon enough- Sevika.
(aka, have you ever wanted to feel like a main character in a fanfiction without it feeling corny despite the setup for your backstory being somewhat corny? then this is for you 😁)
—————————
Ch.1 - You Say Yes
Sevika held her mechanical arm as she limped over to Silcos office. Vi…Vi was back- fuck that- Vi was alive. And she could fight way better than she could 7 years ago. Sevika didn’t get a good view of who shot her arm, she had run off too quick when the second shot had rang out.
She opened the door, panting heavily as she spoke up. “The sister…she’s back.”
Silco slammed the hand mirror closed, turning around in his chair. “From the dead?!”
Sevika nodded, walking further into the office, grunting quietly. “She was with someone, I couldn’t see who— she got my arm.”
He scoffed quietly at her, making her face fall slightly before it hardened again. “…The mechanic. Go see her about that thing.” He muttered, twirling a cigar in his hands.
Sevikas eyes widened slightly, walking further in- but Silco raised his hand, not wanting her arm to keep dripping all over the floor. “That mechanic hates you, everyone you work with, that includes me—“
“I said go.” He muttered, standing from his seat and slamming his hand on the table. “You let Vi get away, do you know how hard it’s going to be to keep that from Jinx?! The first thing you need to do is to get that thing fixed so you can go back out there and make sure she’s actually dead.” Silcos voice spit like venom towards her, and she nodded, looking down towards her shoulder where the bullet went through.
Silco huffed, sitting down in his chair and turning away from her. “Just see if she says yes…”
The quiet sound of the empty workshop filled the room as you cleaned your tools. You had a system, one that you might have been too protective of but that wasn’t the point. It was 8:30PM, your shop well past closed at this time. Music played quietly in the background as you began to organize all your tools, each one had a specific spot— its own place. It was therapeutic, putting everything back in place after dealing with…well what you’d normally see down in Zaun. It could’ve been a teenager who needed help fixing their mechanical prosthetic, or the tallest character you’ve ever seen asking for a consultation.
The people you met in Zaun were…different. You weren’t from there, no, you were from another place called Greeve’s.
But we don’t talk about Greeve’s because…who willingly talks about their past? You don’t talk about your right eye- how your iris didn’t match the normal color on your left, it was a mix of grey, and your pupil was no different, just a darker shade of grey. You also don’t talk about the deep scar that ran from the top of your eyebrow to right under your eye. And definitely not about how you know how to use a gun really well, or even about all the people you—
A harsh knocking came from your door.
The back door, not the front. You looked up at the clock, seeing that it was 9 now. Nobody had ever stopped by your shop past closing so this was new occurrence. And a suspicious one at that. You reached under your counter, grabbing the gun from where it was secured 24/7, and walked up to the door with trained silence. You slid open the peephole on the back door, your eyes dark and unforgiving, glaring at whoever was there. You did this often, especially when it was assholes who wanted to mess with you or your shop. But then you saw her.
Sevika.
You knew who she was, and anyone in Zaun who said they didn’t- they were either lying or scared. Your eyes softened for a moment when you saw the state she was in. The bruise across her stomach, the cut on her lip- the blood dripping from various places on her face. Her mechanical arm was your main focus. The bullet hole that was through and through. You spoke up, your voice somewhat soft, a stark contrast to the look in your eyes.
“What happened to you?” You asked, your eyes meeting hers.
“What’d ya think?” She gritted through her teeth, irritation lacing her voice as she glared right back at you.
Your face hardened again as you rolled your eyes and began to slide the peephole closed. You didn’t tolerate disrespect, especially not from Silcos right hand. Her eyes widened and she walked up to the door, her other arm resting on it.
“Wait—! I’m…look- I need your help, okay? Just this once…” She said, looking into your eyes. You could see the way it pained her to even admit to needing help. After staring at her for a moment- you sighed, sliding the peephole closed. Sevika could hear the various locks on the door clicking as you unlocked them. Opening it, you and Sevika were now face to face. Well, in your case, face to chest. Sevika was…tall, compared to you.
Yeah you had a lot of things going through your mind, but you knew better.
Sevika walked in and you locked the door behind her. When she turned to face you, she did what most everyone did when they saw you for the first time. Look. Her eyes started at your face, analyzing your eye and the rough scar. Then they trailed down to your arms, which were half hidden under your huge work shirt, but your muscle was still visible. You stood there and crossed your arms- carrying yourself in a way that had confidence, but wasn’t egotistical.
Sevika…appreciated that.
You took her to the front, gesturing for her to sit down on a chair while you pulled up a stool on her left, setting your box of tools down next to you. You were both quiet for a moment, Sevika with a stubborn look on her face as she refused to explain before you sighed, running your hand along your face.
“Listen, I need to know what happened so I have an idea of what I’m working with.” You said, turning your head to see if you could get her to look at you. She grumbled quietly, turning to you.
“There’s a bullet hole in my arm.” Sevika said plainly. You rolled your eyes, scooting closer on the stool. You looked up at her, making sure she was okay with you touching the arm, and her eyes widened the slightest bit in surprise. Like she wasn’t used to that. She nodded and you began to examine the arm, the bullet had gone through the shoulder entirely. You raised an eyebrow, speaking quietly.
“Were you shot by an enforcer?”
Sevika raised an eyebrow, turning her head to look at you. “What…?” Her voice was quiet, her expression filled with a hint of shock.
“The bullets they use are specific to Piltover. The ridges, the point- all specific.” You said, looking at the ridges that were left in the shoulder by the bullet.
She was quiet for a moment before mumbling to herself. “Vi was with an enforcer…?” After that, Sevika seemed to have checked out of the conversation, too focused on this revelation. You just continued to work, not being one to pry, especially when the situation didn’t call for it.
After your first examination, you grumbled quietly- your eyebrows furrowing. The damage was extensive— the bullet had shot right through a sensor— and what looked to be a shimmer pump had been shattered, breaking off from the coils and tubes that ran through the entirety of the arm. “This is gonna take a couple hours. I can take the arm and you can come by tomorrow to pick it…up.” Your voice trailed off as you saw the glare she was giving you.
Keeping the arm overnight was not an option.
“…No. I can come back tomorrow and you can fix it then.” She said, her voice cool and quiet. As she went to stand she made a small face of discomfort, her good arm holding her side. Your eyes glanced down to the exposed area of her stomach, seeing the bruise that had begun to form.
“Wait, no.” You spoke up, wiping your forehead slightly. “If you leave now, it could get worse, become a harder fix than when I can do it now.” You said, looking up at her. She thought about it for a moment, her nose scrunching slightly before she sighed and sat back down.
“Alright.”
You spent the next few hours meticulously working on the arm. But when you fixed things, they weren’t just fixed, they were better- improved. You had replaced the sensor with a better one that responded faster, and the shimmer pump, which you didn’t condone but who were you to condemn her for that, was fixed with sturdier metal, holding it in place and connecting it to the loose tubes tighter- for a smoother injection. It was the small things like this that you took pride in, you always had. And Sevika had noticed this. She saw the way you had begun to relax, the tense way you held your shoulders was gone and the frown you always had was now a…a straight line.
Finally, you were done. You looked up at her, wiping your forehead with the back of your hand as you spoke. “Try it out- I want to make sure it’s working right…” You mumbled as you both stood up. She rolled her shoulder and felxed her fingers- then flexed the arm. It was smoother, quicker to respond.
Not fixed. Better.
Her eyebrows raised slightly in surprise, her grey eyes trailing along her arm before they met yours. She focused on your bad eye for a moment before looking off. “It’s…good. Thanks. What do I owe you?”
You went to tell her how much it’d normally cost but as you looked her over…the bruise on her stomach- the cut on her lip, the blood that had dried on her face…instead, you shook your head, putting your tools back into the box. “Nothing. You don’t need the burden of an expensive fix on your back after a break that severe.”
Sevika eyes widened with surprise before they hardened with offense, her pride taking a hit. “I don’t take charity. I’ve been banged up worse than this— I’m good for it.”
You turned to look at her and crossed your arms, scoffing. “It’s not charity. Trust me, the next time you come back here it’ll be full price. Even the small shit.”
Sevika huffed, nodding. “Fine…thank you.” And with that she made her way out of your shop.
You had finally met the right hand to Silco, the scariest woman in Zaun. You hummed quietly, letting out a quiet chuckle as you turned to continue organizing your tools. “Sevika…”

“Just See if She Says Yes…” Sevika x Reader
Chapter List —————————
World Building + Ch. 1 - You Say Yes
Ch. 2 - Jumpy
Ch. 3 - The Back Door
Ch. 4 - I’ll Fix It
i’m moving my sevika x reader fic off of ao3 (as in completely deleting the works off of there) and putting them on here!
i just reread the chapters and i miss writing sooo much. so over the next couple days i’ll be posting the fic in parts and then continuing it on after that. there’s currently 4 chapters + a world building chapter so there’s that much content ready to be posted over some time which gives me MORE time to continue writing the fic (and to actually make the timeline more consistent and not feel rushed when you read it as the first 4 chapters probably could’ve been stretched out over more plot)
im excited 🫶🏽
