Hey so when did people in fandoms suddenly and loudly decide that byler was yaoislop...?

I keep seeing people shit on byler any chance they get and this happened before but now I'm seeing queer fans of other queer ships do it too to a much larger degree. I constantly see people criticise others for putting byler on the same level as other queer ships because it's supposedly slop.

Like...BYLER? YAOISLOP??? The childhood best friends to lovers trope byler? The byler where one of them was canonically in love with the other?? The byler that many hoped would showcase queer love saving everyone and overcoming evil?? The byler that was supposed to be some of the best queer rep in modern media?? SLOP????

Are you kidding me... byler is like the LEAST slop ship ever, it's one of the most normal and understandable ships, with literal canon evidence behind it (Will's CANONICAL feelings for Mike). God forbid we wanted it to work out.

I deadass don't understand where this view comes from. Like no one is forcing others to like or ship byler, I don't care if people ship it or not, but calling it slop is crazy, especially when it's other queer people doing it... Like yes, ST5 fucked them up but it fucked everything up, just like canon has done to so many other ships. And sure some fans can be annoying but again this can be said for ANY fandom...I just like genuinely cannot understand people calling byler yaoiSLOP specifically. Is it because it's popularity sky rocketed and so everything popular is hated? Is it because those people only see byler from S5 onwards and think we only ship them because they're now "conventionally attractive"? Is it just people being annoying as hell and using the word slop for any ship they don't like? I don't get it. Byler has such beauty and depth and emotion and had so much potential to it, how on Earth is it slop??
