shout out hudson williams for reminding me that i do indeed need to start reading actual books and not just fanfiction about shane hollander getting bent over and busted wide open over and over and over again

its so important to me how shane and ilya are not only the perfect match in terms of hockey, but also just their general physicality. in the books it feels like we're constantly hearing about how ilya is this giant bear of a man who towers over shane and makes him feel small and whatever and yeah sure, that trope works, it's fun and hot and whatever. but them being the same height in the show, similar builds, clearly just as strong as each other adds so much more to the dynamic! we see shane moving ilya around physically, shoving him against the wall, pulling him around, he still has control whenever he wants it! most of the time he doesn't, sure, but they're presented as such equals in every aspect of their relationship - rather than falling into the delicate bottom big protective top dynamic they both just. exist with each other

Yuna and David having watched their autistic son be so isolated all of his adult life and never having a happy relationship or close friends who understand his anxiety and then finding out that the man they’ve spent a decade hating on his behalf can casually talk him down from a panic attack in less than a minute
