The last chapter (16) of GGST was perfect in my eyes. It was so intense I loved the drama of it allβ¦ obviously the heartbreak is sad, I donβt understand why Temari keeps deflecting when sheβs asked what she wants, is she just scared of the reality of love guised under a worry about work?
Can I ask a question about the court scene in the last chapter however - Temari was ultimately incorrect for not sharing the statement made by her client? Is it not morally wrong of her not to mention the statement regardless of if she knew it was a potential passaway comment? I also donβt quite understand how it works on why they did reprimand the client if he said going to the jail is the thing that would cause him harm?
Do you have any hints or secrets you can share about the next chapter & update π?
Ooooh interesting question! And less interesting answer! π
First off, so so so happy to hear you liked the last chapter. That means so much to me, especially chapter 16.
Idk if I would say Temari is "deflecting" (or use that terminology). I do think she's serious, or at least is really trying to be. And there is something to be said about stoicism (something I've always seen her as believing) and, honestly, also something to be said about manifesting. If she says she's okay, appears okay, takes some time to be okay, she will be O.K., you know?
The Court scene is a hard question to answer because there isn't a clear right or wrong way to proceed! Confidentiality between client and attorney is a really nuanced thing. I don't personally believe Temari was in the wrong, but also don't believe the Judge and Shikamaru were wrong either! Both probably proceeded exactly as they should. If her client didn't trust her, he wouldn't be honest with her. And so if she genuinely didn't believe he was going to harm himself, then why would she report it and break that trust? On the other hand, the judge doesn't know her client personally and it is wayyyyy too substantial a risk for the judge to not take him into custody where he can be under 24/7 suicide watch. (imagine if temari were wrong and he did do something and the entire court knew he had said something it and they didn't intervene?).
So it's super tricky. I personally think every party made the right choice, even if those choices were contradictory. But I could see them making different choices too and it also being the right answer.
They're not punishing or "reprimanding" the defendant at all by sending him to jail! It's just the only way the judge can guarantee he will be safe. If he's there and on suicide watch, they can make sure he doesn't self-harm. That's the idea. Not to punish him for something he said or did, if that makes sense?
Okay.... next chapter... π€ I can say we are back with another monthly dinner! And it's in the most climactic chapter list of the fic (idk if that's a real list? like, chapter 6 tv scene, chapter 8 sex, chapter 12 Actual Sex, etc) and one I was stressed about a lot during the outlining, drafting, and now publishing of this fic! I'll work on editing it today!
