Most of you probably already know, since we have social media platforms like TikTok, Twitter, and Tumblr. September is declared Suicide Prevention Month.

I am a survivor. Of more than one attempt. I spent months in various hospitalizations due to my anorexia and suicide attempts. I remember sitting for hours wondering why I'm still alive, after all I went through. How I didn't deserve to be alive because of my body and its shape. Because I'm too intense, I feel too much. I'm ugly, no one special. No one liked me.

Well, after all, here I am. Still fighting with my silly mind, recovering from anorexia, and giving back all the damage I've done to myself in the form of self-love. And I'm very proud, of course !

But some people don't have the resources to receive the help I received. In my country, healthcare is public, and I don't have to pay huge amounts. Or they didn't want to help them, they didn't take them seriously when there was still time. I'm not blaming anyone for that. But we can all contribute to helping those who are suffering.

Many are no longer here. They don't have the chance to move on, to fight. They died believing they were unlovable, that the comments at school and on social media were real, that their children don't want to see them, that debt is drowning them. You still have the opportunity to move forward, to ask for help, and to help others.

Suicide, suicide attempts, self-harm, and eating disorders are not a myth. They're not a trend. They're not a joke we make to get attention and everyone at our disposal. It's a cry for help. It's saying, "I'm drowning and there's no lifeline to hold onto." It's suffering, pain, anger.

I've been bullied for years. It's real, and it really happens (more than you think!), and here's my word:

If you're at school, be nice to others. Don't make fun of their physical appearance, their backpack, their mid-morning snack, or that they always wear the same clothes.

This is often repeated, but you really don't know what's going on in their house. The world doesn't revolve around you, and the others aren't secondary characters. They're someone's children, friends, cousins, siblings, future parents. It's not just you who matter (of course you do, but you're not more than anyone else, just equal), but you have to be more empathetic.

You never know how your comment will affect someone else. It could change their entire life.

Be good. You don't want to be one of the reasons someone takes their own life. Believe me, you don't want to carry their blood on your hands forever.

Suicide has nothing to do with gender, age, or money.

Check on your loved ones.

You deserve to be loved.
