Explosives used to remove hazard trees are readily available from nationwide distributors and usually can be delivered within a day. During fire season, distributors often build up supplies and may have fireline explosives ready for immediate delivery. Many forests maintain a cache of explosives that can be shared as needed.

In Wyoming, the US Forest Service routinely blows up carcasses of fallen horses (after removing horseshoes to minimize the hazard from flying metal debris ) to prevent gatherings of ravenous grizzly bear. But don’t worry, right now the U.S. Forest Service says the fire danger is too extreme to explode any dead backcountry horses.

And the Northern Region Blaster Examiner will have to wait for rainy season for work to pick up again.

Earth will get a second moon (2024 PT5)

for two months when a small asteroid will begin to orbit our planet. This mini-moon will begin revolving around Earth from Sept. 29 to Nov. 25. The mini-moon is approximately only 10 meters wide and will follow a “horseshoe path” instead of completing a full revolution, so it will be very difficult to see the asteroid from Earth.
