i feel like remaking?? it’s not a desperate ‘oh my god everything is a mess i don’t want to be here anymore’ kind of feeling, rather just... feels like a thing that would probably be good now. not a lot would change --- i might give my tags a second look and attempt with a new theme but it would give me freedom to rethink my formatting, change my psd, leave some of the weight that’s been buidling up on this blog behind. idk what i would do ith an url --- i don’t know how i feel about the current one, to start with. i hate looking at it but i’m kinda used to writing it so idk.
i’m not sure if the point of this post was to ask for input or be a psa or for me to just type out some of my feeling. i don’t have such a desperate need for this, which is why i think it might be a good time to do the switch because then i won’t be immediately frustrated if something doesn’t work out.

The King glanced over to the purple haired girl and what seemed to be her friends, he sighed heavily and shook his head. When Adam had united the kingdoms and banished the villains it all seemed well but the children that had been born couldn’t have had it easy but no matter who their parents were, it didn’t mean they were like them.
❝ Children. ❞ He nodded politely, slowly lifting his wife from the ground in a large hug, only carrying her away from the crowd and people before sitting down with her in his arms, gently stroking her cheek. ❝ Do you want to talk about it? ❞
a familiar terror kept her in her hold --- it was moving in flashes between paralysing grief and red-hot anger as she was reminded of seeing maleficent the last time, only hours before having to send her beautiful, breathing, already dying baby daughter away for a decade and a half, unsure if the time she would ever get to hold her daughter would truly be just mere days. she was panicking, she knew it, but she couldn’t help herself: this was all meant to be over. when adam united the kingdoms, they were never supposed to feel fear again. that, he had promised: maleficent somewhere without her powers, somewhere she can and will never leave.
god, if she’d only known there were two of them she needed to see nightmares about...
the touch, for a moment, made her tense: mind too stuck on repeating past grief to even recognise the hands of her husband. it is only when spoken to did she realise the arms around her have changed, and her arm was extended in an awkward angle from underneath stefan’s hold --- it didn’t matter: only thing that mattered was the desperate hold she had on him, being able to lean against him, allow the panic wash over her in peace now that her face was no longer towards the spectators of the scene, rather than having to contain it. “ no, I---... ” the sentence, though unfinished, was still mostly untrue: she wanted to talk about it, desperately, with the one person who could remotely understand her anguish.... she simply didn’t have the words yet. a minute longer, and she could try again: “ stefan, i thought she had come back. ” a sound halfway between a steadying breath and a cut-of sob broke her sentences.
“ audrey is SIXTEEN... i was sure she had---... ” she had come to finish what her mother started.
“ the number is SIX now. this is oswine, you have yet to meet him, i believe. i brought him... recently. ” it is a safe way to say oswine has yet to see his new home altogether --- something the snake currently twisting around salazar’s arm and wrist is quick to mention. a few words are exchanged in parseltongue, mostly consisting of salazar buying the animal’s silence before he offers him to rowena. “ he, too, is venomous, however, the fangs are too far back in his mouth to cause danger --- even ACCIDENTAL. ”

As I’ve already established, I don’t follow the most obvious interpretation of Salazar. The common idea of what happened is that the three other founders got sick of Salazar’s bigotry and threw him out, or that Salazar got mad because he didn’t get what he wanted and left doors banging.
Needless to say, I don’t think that’s how it played out. Notice how there is no mention of Slytherin aloone --- house or person --- until on the one bit where he leaves:
“So Hogwarts worked in harmony / for several happy years, / but then discord crept among us / feeding on our faults and fears. / The Houses that, like pillars four / had once held up our school / now turned upon each other and / divided, sought to rule. / And for a while it seemed the school / must meet an early end. / [W]hat with duelling and with fighting / and the clash of friend on friend. / And at last there came a morning / when old Slytherin departed / and though the fighting then died out / he left us quite downhearted.”
REASON ONE --- the fights.
The four founders were friends. Their original disagreements weren't just Salazar vs. everyone else, all of the founders had different opinions about how and who they should teach. Salazar wasn’t the only picky one: Rowena demanded intelligence and Godric bravery from children. The house system was created as comprise to fit all of them, and it worked for a while. In my opinion, that “a while” was just bout as long as it took for the students to create a proper identity to their houses.
That’s right, I don’t think the fights in Hogwarts started with the founders, I think they started with the students. The Sorting Hat mentions that ‘the Houses’ (plural!!) started to fight against each other, and while that could’ve been used to describe the heads of each house, I would argue it would be extremely weird and useless if the schools' teachers duelled each other. That definitely sounds more like something teenage kids with brains still unable to properly understand consequences would do, especially in the fucking tenth century.
So yeah, I believe one of the major things that made the founders step back and realise something was going terribly wrong was when the students, entirely wrapped in ‘us vs. them’ mentalities and adopted the teachings of the one teacher each house had, started to form their identities around the house’s and see everyone else as other, regardless of what hey actually were like.Naturally, such a shift in the athmosphere of the school would have likely made them argue about exactly whose fault it was that this happened, and caused tension between them.
REASON TWO --- the secrecy.
Salazar was raising a fucking death snake without the other founders’ knowledge. Salazar was building a scary-ass panic room without the other founder’s knowledge. Salazar was concealing the entry to said panic room with magic to make it adapt to it’s surroundings and to keep the room it was in remain unpleasant to be in without the other founders’ knowledge. It requires sneaking around, vague explanations and straight-up lying to the people closest to you to pull that off. Even though Salazar’s legilemency is a great help in lying, sooner or later it would have caught up to him. This kind of sneaking around and dishonesty would have added more weight to tensions already there and naturally, given the three other time to bond without him.
REASON THREE --- the paranoia.
Let’s face it --- Salazar wanted to eventually be remembered as the man who saved Hogwarts and wizardkind and dedicated a large portion of his time in building Hogwarts to prepare for an attack that might happen centuries and centuries later, all because he saw the presense of muggleborns as an inevitable threat. While he probably did not say the words “all muggleborns are evil and will murder us all one day”, that fear and distrust must’ve carried out to his students with whom he winteracted for hours, every day, for a large portion of the year --- not to mention, the the pureblood students probabl already shared his views and had seen witches and “witches” be executed if they interacted at all with muggles. The fact that while all of them were cautious, Slytherins were the least tolerant of non-pureblood students, could have not gone unnoticed by the school, and created a perfect set-up for Slytherin to feel excluded the way they do now even if --- and I won’t stop emphasising this --- the other houses still fought each other too.
Seeing blood-purity ideals (or what looked like it) grow in the fourth house is definitely something that would have pushed Goodric and Salazar against each other, and fighting and having to excuse and justify himself and his students, much more than the other founders had to to, to his closest friend like that was the last nail in the coffin, causing Slytherin to leave. What I think followed was the whole school was shocked, and the remaining three had to start mingling students on classes, and it was that decision that allowed Hogwarts to quiet down: breaking the form of students only hearing from one teacher was what caused the fighting to stop, less the actual act of Salazar leaving.
Given that both the house and its name stayed, and the Hat’s comment about them all being downhearted by his departure, I think that at least Helga and Rowena considered Salazar a friend to the end --- not a traitor or a bigot or a coward --- and clearly none of them was glad to see him gone. I do strongly believe they thought they would see him again and expected him to return to teaching, thus preserving the name of the house. What happened to him after that, no one knows.
