Went to Japan by herself at the age of 12 only to see her duo disband an year later and having to comeback to Korea;

Had a car accident and her priority was to tell fans that she was okay (even tho her injure was quite severe) and made and edited a little video herself to show them;

Was literally the only member able to get Taeyeon out of her room and make her talk when she closed herself off because she didn’t want to be the leader;

Yuri has literally said “More than anyone, Sooyoung is the member most devoted to justice and what’s right. When there’s something that everyone else hates to do, she’ll get up and do it, and if there’s some sort of conflict, she’ll get up right away and set it straight.”;

She always lets Seohyun win in the games they play together;

She thought about Sunny while eating a cheeseburguer in Japan because she likes them a lot;

When she had a vacation in NY, she was spotted talking with a chess player in a park. The man was lonely, waiting for someone to play chess with and she talked and comforted him;

“There were a lot of times I was sorry for choosing this occupation. I chose this because I wanted to do it, but it’s not right to my parents, is it? So when people say bad things about me, when my mom says stuff like ‘How do I deal with this feeling of unfairness?’… making her experience emotions that she would never experience if I wasn’t a celebrity… I am really sorry about that.”

Has been visiting and keeps on visiting a past basketball coach, Park Seungil, who suffers from ALS, for the past 6 years;

Only 3 years ago she used to think her only good contribution to the group was speaking Japanese don’t touch me “I was happy being able to give my team help by at least being good at speaking Japanese.”;

Upon receiving the Best Actress in a Miniseries Award “There are people who wish for a miracle to live tomorrow like Bomyi. I would like to share this award with them.” ;

Didn’t even hesitate to give autographs to fans on her birthday at the airport even tho it was freezing;

Reminded people of the true meaning of the ice bucket challenge when she did it herself;

Donated her personal items for charity;

Due to her little time she apologised to the fans when they asked for her autograph at the JFK airport, as she couldn’t do it. But when she noticed one member of the staff was taking too long, she came back to the fans and made sure she signed for everyone who wanted an autograph and even talked to the fans in english, asking them where they were from and if they had liked lion heart; 

Feeds MCs and Camera Men even tho she doesn’t have to;

Takes care of the other members even tho she’s the 3rd youngest;

You can tell her intention when acting silly is to make the other members (and people in general) laugh;

She genuinely loves making other people smile;

Is confident without putting anyone down;

Loves complimenting the other members;

She’s always genuinely grateful for the good opportunities she gets;

She’s probably even more grateful for SNSD than we are “ I was deeply touched thinking, ‘What I couldn’t achieve alone, I now can because I’m together with my members’.”;

Whenever there’s the chance, she always raises awareness towards illnesses that need funding to have research made for it to be found a cure;

When she spoke about her father’s vision illness and people started to focus on her father she drifted the focus to the actual issue and brought awareness once again to the illness itself and not her personal issues;

“ I especially think it would be important knowing what people my age do. When we’re together [the members], we think the world we’re in is everything, but it’s different if you step out just a little. There are people who take a bus to work every day at the break of day. There are some people who study hard, earn a scholarship, and go to college. I try not to forget those scenes of life. “;

She’s extremely down to earth;

Is never greedy for the spotlight (to the point of pointing out the other members to it);

There was an incident during a fan meeting when the manager was rushing a fan who was getting signatures from the girls. Sooyoung insisted on writing the fan’s chinese name as a token of appreciation for the fan’s support.;

She supports the other members so much on their personal achievements;

Supports any of her friends endlessly really;

Kept her composure during ITNW in Tokyo Dome when all of the members started breaking down one by one, even though it’s well known that she’s one of the girls who most easily cries, proving that she’ll put and acknowledge other people’s feelings before hers;

(Saying how she’ll explain SNSD to her future kid) “It defined a generation, and that generation continues to this day. It’s an existence that is most precious to me. Just like you are precious to me.“;

Her mother has literally said she worries that Sooyoung won’t take care of herself because she’s too selfless to put herself first;

“When I was first learning to ride a bike, my dad gave me the nickname of ‘little hero’, but I’ve gotten so big now that I’m in the position where I can help him. He thinks I’ve become really big, but I’m still my dad’s youngest daughter and ‘little hero’. My ‘big hero’ is you, dad. If a ‘little hero’ and a ‘big hero’ cross, I think the bright world that you see with your heart will become true.” 

She didn’t accept any income when she played the (lead) part of a blind woman for a mini-series (to be aired in April) and she hopes that this role will bring more awareness and compassion towards visually impaired people;

When she knew a disabled fan was going to attend their concert (she was the only one who knew he was gonna attend),  she made sure he got tickets in a good seat where he wouldn’t have to turn his head, and on the second day he got placed right in front of Red Velvet. Aside this, on the first day, she made sure he got through security and insisted for him to get through to backstage so he could meet her and the rest of the girls (who were also amazing to him). After the concert, she still asked on KKT if everything was okay with him and if everything was okay with his flight back home;

“You can’t create any miracle alone. So we should help create a miracle. A little bit of our interest will become everyone’s big hope.”
