 “Does that mean the Ash Tree was in your land?” The girl questioned, quite used to looking up in order to talk to people. All of her father’s friends were so tall! ..Well, Arne was on the shorter side but she didn’t talk to him much. 

 “Was the tree just tall or was it..” She opened her arms, trying to remember the word to decide what she wanted. Pulling a blank, she just gestured with her arms. “…Was it wide too?” The width or something, right?

Aslaug nodded at Gyda’s question in affirmation.

“It was.”

The tree’s branches stretched out, its limbs reaching  out to the sky almost like an embrace or in the midst of a yawn. They were even big enough for Óðinn to possibly hang himself from, if it had been Yggdrasil. 

He nods because he understands that, feels it more often than he’d like ot admit.

“Some shattering helps.”

“Someone who deserves a blade in his gut.” 

“For someone….” Arya muttered, taking another swing at the tree. 

" And where did you hear of my plans to rule here? ”

Aslaug asked her husband, with a barely veiled hostility in her words and expression. It was evident he didn't LOVE her, or perhaps, he never truly did.

She was surely better, more capable at ruling Kattegat, and agreed with Siggy’s words of “we should rule.” 

“That doesn’t seem too much of a possibility. It’s good practiced,”  Arya muttered. 

❛ I need to visit more often. I have not seen them in what feels like forever. I do enjoy their company,❜  Athelstan said, settling down next to Asluag. He was a sucker for children.

“ Yes, indeed you must! ”

Aslaug smiles more widely, as she sees him settle next to her.

“ That is pleasing to hear, for myself and surely my sons too.” 

“Others….shatter you?”

“Yes...”

“So how do you deal with the things you do see?”

The child nodded her head, looking up at the woman. Gosh, she sure was tall- could she be taller than her father? And she was quite pretty too- “…Are you father’s friend?” That sounded nicer to say then calling her ‘the lady her father bought home’. 

“He didn’t tell me he saw that,” She mumbled, needing to find a way to trap her brother to hear all of what he saw. For now though, she’ll ask the woman about the Ash tree. This didn’t really seem like something her brother would bother with, anyways. “What was the tree like?”

Aslaug was quite conscious as to how much she towered over the child, but of course, she could not help that. She hoped that her height did not make her seem intimidating in any way.

“I am. We met at his camp, in my land of Gotaland.”

They had gotten along almost immediately, their interests seeming to align with each other’s. Well, after he had apologized to her and rightfully so, from two of his men spying on her whilst she bathed.
