Not that I think all marriages are doomed but when deciding who to marry you should ask yourself “is this someone I’d want to divorce?” As in, is this someone I believe would be mature and fair, even when they’re upset and don’t particularly like me at the moment. Is this someone I could continue to trust while going through an adversarial process? And if the answer is no, don’t marry them.

it’s funny how we’re getting to the point in the AI lifespan where you can feel the desperation from tech companies to have you use their AI features. instagram has moved their AI effects to the top of the menu when you’re creating a post for your story, exactly where the draw/edit button used to be. gmail is creating one-click AI-generated replies right before you open up the text box. spotify put a beta AI playlist generator on the front page that looks just like a search bar so all of their users accidentally click on it when they go to search for a song.
tech companies are shaking in their boots trying to prove to shareholders that their investment in AI is worth it, to the point where they’re tricking their users into using the AI features even for a split second in order to fudge the numbers. like awww is your little environment-destroying toy not wielding the results you hoped for? so sad!
The difference between the internet and AI is that AI is INSANELY expensive to run and, in its current state, isn't only negatively received by a large portion of the population, but, in its current state, isn't really making enough money to function without the approval of shareholders. The internet makes money, a SHITTON of money. AI scrapes by on sugar daddy (shareholder) cash.
You're right that AI slop will never disappear, but companies desperation to get people to look at it for shareholder approval only shows that they're running out of money to fund the very basic slop that normal people use, like Spotify AI, Google AI, Instagram AI, fuck OpenAI is gonna likely shut down.
The internet makes money, AI doesn't make much cause most of its users are using free or cheap subscriptions because, guess what, asking AI for free art is only worth it when it's free, when it's $20, you might as well not bother, or just go fucking commission an actual person
TLDR, we winning cause AI is expensive as hell to run and eventually it'll become money and shareholders will get bored and it'll become FAR less prevalent (Unless I'm wrong but tbh I doubt)
[Image description: tags which say #even if the ai bubble pops it's not going away #like take the internet bubble for example #the internet bubble popped years ago but it's still growing and always will be. #unfortunately ai will always be a pest]
airpods are literally such a massive downgrade like remember when headphones cost £2 didn’t need charging didn’t randomly disconnect and didn’t get lost all the time. remember when tech kinda worked for kinda cheap
remember when phones just fucking had headphone jacks
how r u gonna call them love handles and then try to convince ppl thats a bad thing. insane to me
something something the poetry of science etc

Babies don't misbehave, they just behave. There's no such thing as a baby being "bad" because they don't understand cause and effect at first and have no concept of others feelings for a while after they do learn that.
A baby is never doing something to upset you. They don't act up to piss you off. They act in the only way they know how, and yes, sometimes the behaviour they're drawn to isn't great! That's why you guide them and comfort.
It's okay to be mad, but you need to remind yourself of this or you'll become resentful. Babies don't misbehave.
My wife’s idea of decompressing after the busy holiday was to rearrange every piece of furniture in our home is this an ADHD thing or just a her thing
I’m not complaining the way she’s done it is much better than it was it’s just like how is this your idea of a relaxing weekend
Listen I don't get to decide when the drunk elf that is my executive actually does the functioning but when he does we have a SMALL WINDOW OF TIME before he finds the schnapps again and we're done
yes this exactly
So to me, there are spoons (general energy cost) and carnival tickets (specific energy cost).
Spoons can be used pretty much anywhere.
Carnival tickets are only good for the carnival, and it’s only in town for a limited amount of time.
So like, if I get “kitchen cleaning” carnival tickets, I can’t use that to clean my bedroom, that’s not where the carnival is.
phrase added to permanent vocabulary
apparently youre supposed to perform. they love it when you perform. but it has to be authentic. they hate it when it's not authentic. but you have to perform.
What is your favorite way to prepare your favorite vegetable?
I like a lot of vegetables. I guess something good is broccoli tossed in olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder and roasted. That sort of setup is pretty good for a lot of other harder vegetables like potatoes, yams, and carrots too. You can also add other spices. It’s a pretty versatile method.

Did I just employ the "Treat Them Like You are A Kindergarten Teacher Again" method with my insurance company today? I surely did. Did it work? Probably better than intended because I made an actual doctor feel contrite.
So, my insurance has been trying to not cover my SNRI because it is new on the market and no generic available yet, so pricey.
I apply for a refill and the request gets locked for review. Again. For the 3rd time.
This time I call and immediately ask to speak to the actual doctor making these clinical decisions. Very politely. Must be a slow day because they allow it.
ME: [Teacher voice] I'm calling in regards to the SNRI you have placed a lock on. Why was this decision made?
DOC: Well, there are dozens of other medications on the market in that tier, and far cheaper for you and [insurer]. We have sent a request to your doctor to consider alternatives.
ME: I am aware of that. So, can you do me a HUGE favor and look up my prescription history really quickly and tell me how many SSRIs and SNRIs were only filled once in 2022 for me, showing they were poorly tolerated?
DOC: It looks like eight.
ME: Great job! Now, can you please look at my genetic test for psychiatric drug tolerance and tell me how many medications are listed in the safe category?
DOC: Two.
ME: Awesome! Now, can you tell me what type that other drug is that I'm not taking?
DOC: Yeah, totally, it's an MAOI.
ME: That's correct, you're really knowledgeable! Should I be taking something as dangerous as an MAOI with my other medications, or even just in general?
DOC: It's contraindicated for sure.
ME: It is! So true! So, last question since you've been incredibly smart and helpful. Is it less expensive for [insurer] to pay out for the medication knowing they already get a huge manufacturer discount anyway, or is it more expensive for them to pay for me to need potentially long-term inpatient psychiatric care?
DOC: I'll clear the code, ma'am and flag it as medically necessary. I'm sorry about this.
ME: I appreciate you SO MUCH. You have a great day now.
