caleb letting frumpkin go is upsetting me very much and i am very sad and angry

real talk: what is Artagan doing now that nobody else but Jester is hanging out with him? do you think he's like hanging outside the Marble Tomes Conservatory trying to trick random passersby into stealing books for him and just waiting for Jester to commune with him? drawing mustaches on passed out Hupperdook ravers and getting really excited when the ping comes for the scry? painting unflattering portraits of the Tal'Dorei council on the walls of the Cloudtop District and dropping everything when he hears Jester mention him so he can pop in and say something? I feel like the freedom from his followers was probably exciting for like five days and now he's bored again.

You know it still baffles me why people are determined to believe that Caleb only loves Jester because she is so full of happiness and light, and that he doesn’t see her fully, and is just infatuated with her. Are we watching the same campaign? This man has repeatedly shown that he understands she is more than just a happy face and can be hurt. That major image scene? Came about because he saw she was hurt and doubting herself. Affirming how powerful she is several times, check. Supporting her plans or adding on to them, check. Her room in the tower, replicating her home while refining it to show he understands she is a mature woman despite her childish tendencies. Talking her through difficult points, like when the Gentleman rejected her or she was struggling through her faith, check. These are just a few of the things I can remember off the top of my head. Now, of course he also loves her for her happiness and light, because that is a part of who she is. She is a bundle of chaotic energy and he loves that. To say that’s all he sees however is a disservice to the character and how Liam has played him. And she is definitely not his manic pixie girl, which is honestly more disrespectful to Laura/Jester than Caleb but is still wrong. Every time I see this take it irritates me because it feels like people just see the sad man liking the happy girl and never see beyond that because tropes are so hardwired into us that it can be difficult to get over them. Widojest is so much more than that, which is why all of us love it so much.

looking back at my posts, it seems that the form of widofjorester i’m actually into is just jester saying or doing something that makes caleb’s heart melt and fjord teasing him about it
