With a sense that another tale hung by that comment, Megara determined she would personally ambush him later when his guard was down and try to learn more details.

She took a bite and schooled her features to display only the most dainty dislike. “I see… this would be a family recipe, then?” Avoiding his eyes, she took a long drink of wine, praying that she would at least retain whatever nutrition lingered in whatever lump of charcoal she was choking down. “Here’s to Queen Granny.”

 Thankfully she was dead when the coup happened, but that doesn’t mean he misses her to the extreme again. He misses all his family, and as remaining heir of the throne, having renounced his ties to the chantry to gain heirship again... 

A surprise, indeed, although Kaaras was sure the surprise was far more on his side than anything else. He stood up straight at the sight of Sebastian before he tucked a hand behind his back and bowed.

“Prince Sebastian,” he replied in greeting. “What a pleasure to see you here.” From his years in Starkhaven as a captain to the Bares-taar, he had been familiar with the Vael family. 

“I would be honoured.” He gestured for Sebastian to take the lead, offering him a friendly and professional smile. 

And thats how he managed to get the inquisitor into tea time. truly his charisma is both a blessing and a curse, a leftover from his times as a manwhore within Starkhave youth. 

 “Inquisitor, what a surprise!” he fakes surprise since this is skyhold and this is where the inquisitor will be after all. but he must make small talk for the sake of appearance.
