Super Pup

If things go according to plan...

Laptop I do my art stuff on has been restored and I started working on various elements of Super Pup again, which resulted in the above pic.

I’ll explain what it’s about in more detail when I’ve finished it, but basically this is Super Pup as he appears halfway between full color and the greyscale color schemes I’ve shown him off in both.

So...it’s been a couple of months without any updates; here’s where we stand on things.

Super Pup has actually reached a point that I could be amassing a buffer of comics to start posting formally right now. The reason this hasn’t happened yet, obviously, is largely due to some unexpected real life complications, in combination with a long-lingering problem of whether or not I’ll actually be able to find the time to work and post Super Pup regularly more often than once every couple of weeks at best. Considering the whole project has been crafted with the hope of posting it preferably more than once a week, that’s a posting schedule I am not okay with at present and think it would be unfair to whomever’s following it, and it’s left me with the lingering worry that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the demand needed to maintain Super Pup, at least as I’m presently envisioning it, at the moment.

So here’s the plan. Super Pup has already been in development for nearly six years straight now, and because of it’s inconsistent and WIP posting up to now, I haven’t generated a lot of watchers yet, which I’m actually okay with seeing with the project’s still in the process of getting pieced together still. But since that means I don’t really need to fear about losing viewership that’s already next to non-existent (not that I don’t appreciate those who do view and follow Super Pup, wherever and whenever it pops up) and that the prolonged delays in getting it actually going has, if anything, given me all that much more time to make it into a stronger project than it already was, I figure letting lie fallow for a little bit longer isn’t going to hurt at this point.

Thus while I’m certainly still going to be working on the project behind the scenes as often I can, I will not be putting a pressing need to try and get it out and running as a soon as possible, and instead wait until such time arrives when I can be more confident I can keep up with the upkeep of such a project and getting it posted and out to you viewers on a more regular basis than I think I could right now. And I have a few different ideas on how to make that happen, so sooner or later one of those ideas will come together in due time, and then we’re ready to rock and roll.

But that’s basically where we stand on things. If you stick around and wait for that day, great, just be warned I can’t guarantee when that might be. However, I will still try and post things of interest to this blog when I can so to demonstrate forward progress if nothing else, although I expect such posting could still be as much as weeks to months apart as before still.

Sketches of terrain, scenery, and a rough map of locations largely for my personal reference as I continue to work on Super Pup. You will note several locations on the map are randomly numbered; these corresponds with a list of written notes, but because these notes are spoilerish in nature, they have been hidden for this posting.

Going to be making some...adjustments...to the layout of all this that will probably be an ongoing thing for a currently unknown time frame (depends on my schedule in the coming weeks).

Basically, if you come to the site here and find things all discombobulated...this is why.

So about a year ago, I posted a pic teasing the “master document” of storyarcs I was writing for Super Pup, and how many implied to be had. Since then, I’ve been hard at work expanding that list further still, so now look how many I’m implying to have. Over 300 pages worth...many of those storyarcs not yet complete.

That’s actually what I’ve been working on most for Super Pup as of late; writing out those storyarcs, which, because sharing them would only spoil what I have in mind, it’s not something I can really share on the web that much, so that’s actually why this place got a little inactive all of a sudden. Rest assured that this doesn’t mean I’ve given up on Super Pup; quite the opposite actually, I’m still hard at work on it. It’s just work that’s hard to show off.

Anyway, I’ve amassed so many storyarc ideas now that I’m about to “lock” them in...meaning that once I do, I will not permit myself to add more until I’ve gotten through most of these first. Instead, I’ll revert to finishing, refining, and editing what I’ve already got...as well as starting work on the comics that will tell these storarcs properly.

Some more experimental art for Super Pup, which may seem routine enough at first glance. However, unlike pretty much all of the other pics up until this point, which were (mostly) drawn traditionally, these two were drawn entirely digitally. This was done to see if it'd be practical, and if so, what sort of brushes I'd like to use. The results: the darker brush resulting in the more solid and bolder lines, and yes it is practical...so much so that I'm thinking that I will draw the comic itself digitally now instead of the original plan of doing it mostly traditionally (the fact that I can have a practically limitless canvas digitally puts up a good argument).

But speaking of the comic on a whole...

I was originally planning on doing one more character sketch series that features just a mish-mash of various miscellaneous characters that hadn't already featured in a character sketch...but I decided while doing these above sketches that, nah, I don't actually need to do that, so I'm going to skip it.

Thus with that out of the way...I can jump right into starting in on making the actual comic itself.

And work on Super Pup continues still! Sorry that it's been so quiet, but I've been working a full time job as of late that's been taking up my time, and what work on Super Pup I have been able to do is behind the scenes and thus isn't really shareworthy.

But this should hopefully prove I'm still working on it. This series of sketches is mostly for the further refinement of various characters, practice, and to experiment with some new ones. I deemed there was actually some spoilerish stuff in this series for a change, so I whited-out all of that, but there's still plenty to see here.

So I was doodling in one of my notebooks in school, slightly botched a sketch of Super Pup, and decided to have fun with it. :P

So it's been a couple weeks since the last post, for which I apologize. Up until now, nearly all of the posts you have seen were archived in the cue to post at a certain time. However, I have now run out of cued posts and currently have nothing to add to it and post, thus the gap in posts.

However, just because there are no new posts at the moment, doesn't mean I'm not still working on Super Pup, because I am, very much so. It's just all behind the scenes stuff, stuff that either isn't capable of being posted, or more likely just isn't interesting enough TO post. Or contains spoilers. I suppose that's a factor too.

Either way, work continues still, and hopefully soon I'll have more to show off in the near future. I'm currently working at rearranging my schedule, workload, and work order so to better favor Super Pup. I hope that upon completing that, work on Super Pup will be progressing forward more visibly.
