"rob zombie films and tcm are horror movies for conservatives" media literacy at an all time low oh my gracious.
im crashing out im losing it im going to become evil.
texas chainsaw HANDS DOWN wokest slasher there's commentary on poverty and ableism and gender. genuinely the 1974 tcm is one of the only displays of feminine gender non conformity in a horror antagonist that isn't a trans panic film. both physical and mental disability is pretty directly addressed with Franklin and Bubba who are both actively victimized by ableism in ways that carry a lot of the horror of the film. the Sawyers are so poor they um eat people. my "conservative" slasher film with the true evil of the movie being the Sawyer family for abusing and exploiting Bubba, who has weird gender stuff and is disabled. My conservative slasher film that reflects the social view of "hillbillies" pretty exactly.
ill mention the fact that lords of salem is in fundament about the centuries of misogynistic abuse of women and how men can never fully understand it but people r mostly talking about devil's rejects when they say this
"devil's rejects is conservative slop" political satire is a real and thriving thing here. film created post 9/11 Bush era nationalist america about post vietnam america and its dangerous nationalism. your killers r white people who wear the confederate flag on booty shorts and are obvious hillbilly caricatures. the representation of the media and news pretty strongly reflects American media in ultra nationalist times, interrupting normal broadcasting to give graphic, unnecessary detail of the killings. they both represent the image general society has of rural poor white people as violent dirty good for nothing bigoted hillbillies who fuck corpses and probably their siblings, but also the violence poor white people are not only enabled but encouraged by american social systems to commit.
people cannot watch a horror movie about "rednecks" without jumping to calling it right wing slop because they lwk hate poor people and aren't willing to examine things critically. 'white trash' depicted in horror typically involves a lot of class concious imagery and reflects the evils of financial oppression and neglect.
