Weâre ghosts, and we solve mysteries. DEAD BOY DETECTIVES âşâşâş Kassius Nelson as Crystal Palace âşâşâş Jayden Revri as Charles Rowland âşâşâş George Rexstrew as Edwin Payne
the thing about fiber art that nobody tells you about is that every single kind of fiber art is a gateway drug to other kinds of fiber art.

yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.
I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.
As others have said, it was the canary in the coal mine.
A new Gallup poll finds support for same-sex marriage and relationships in the U.S. has stopped rising after two decades.

You know, I am GENUINELY unsure that I understood the Pining While Fucking trope before Heated Rivalry. I'm convinced that it's 80% of the absolute crack cocaine infused into Hollanov. The other 20% is the rivalry and the language barrier and the forbidden eroticism of it all but mostly it's the pining. A fucking masterclass of the trope. Rachel Reid really sat down to write the sequel to her coffee shop AU and cooked the literary equivalent of crystal meth.
I've reached the point where cynicism is a major turn-off for me. You're not smarter than idealists, and you're not helping.
Funny that the stereotypical cynic is an idealist who aged out of it. In my experience, the reverse is true. I was an extreme cynic as a teenager and then I noticed how profoundly limiting it was, and also that "cynics are cool and smart" was a message that was being constantly reinforced by corporate media for some reason.
#yes! cynicism reads as very juvenile to me#and yes prev often stemming from teen pain
Yeah, like I see black-pilled people on here and my default reaction isn't "oh, these must be world-weary old warriors who've lost their faith in humanity", it's "these people are in their 20s and need a hobby"
I also think that the present era has proven that authoritarian leaders don't actually want a population of wide-eyed idealists, they want a population of jaded assholes who are convinced that everyone is lying, any resistance is either a scam or doomed to failure, and nothing can ever get better.

fucking CACKLING imagining shane trying to be more spontaneous and less "boring" just to try it out (agreeing to go out to clubs, not having a set chore schedule, etc.) and ilya just >:( no >:( put it back!! put the boring back!!! >:(
shane was a little worried about ilya getting bored being with him so decided to try and spice things up and meanwhile ilya is just It Is 2 AM Why Are You Not Asking To Go Home What The Fuck Are You Doing
#like shane understands by that point that it's said fondly#but i feel like he would experiment with being 'exciting' just to try it out#and meanwhile ilya is >:( if you don't give yourself a curfew and organize your socks by day in the neXT FIVE MINUTES SO HELP HIM GOD-#also it's not even like. going WILD wild.#shane does one (1) shot when they're out with the team even though there's a game in three days#and ilya immediately is like You Should Not Be Doing That What Is Wrong With You#i just find it SO funny to imagine shane trying to be more what he imagines ilya would want in a partner#and meanwhile ilya is just the velma 'you stop that' meme @penandinkprincess
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as âproblematicâ in class and our professor was like, âThatâs cool, but âproblematicâ doesnât really mean anything. It means that the thing youâre describing has a problem, and in and of itself thatâs not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else itâs not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like youâre trying to say that this is bad, but you donât want to say âbad.â Is that right?â
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the âbadâ thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, âIâm uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.â
Once we stopped calling things âproblematicâ and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, âthatâs racistâ or âthatâs misogynisticâ or âew capitalism grossâ out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, âUhhh... Iâm not sure whatâs so bad?â and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I canât help but think of this professor being like, âGood starting point, now letâs get specific.â I think when we have to commit to saying âthatâs ___â it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever weâre claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes itâs art, and it should be full of problems, because thatâs what art is.
#'this is present in the text' is often a good first step #but those second and third ones (naming it; describing its function) are vital (via @elucubrare)

I think if you have the means to you should 100% shop at your local butcher, not just because the meat is better but also because I have never been in a butcher shop that didnât have the most impeccable vibes of any store ever. My local butcher seems to exclusively hire the most hunky charismatic guys under 40 youâve ever seen in your life. Itâs like a bonds undies catalogue in there. Theyâre so nice and they give me dog bones for free because theyâre charmed by the concept of my tiny little chainsaw dog

Adult ProTip, from a security professional: If a kid tells you, "My parents are gonna kill me / kick my ass / kick me out" for something relatively minor, don't respond with shit like "Really? ;) that sounds a little extreme, don't you think sweetie?" because that shit really does happen.
Instead, respond as though whatever threat they are afraid of is fully valid, and offer whatever you can do to help- ask if they believe they are in danger of being hurt in any way, and work accordingly.
If they're overreacting, they'll usually realize and dial it back, self-correct and begin thinking a bit more rationally.
If they're not overreacting, and the danger is real, then they'll need a level-headed adult in their corner, not another condescending authority figure who doesn't believe them.
sorry about the light mode but this is important also
^^^^^ Also, since it wasnât in the original post:
Some kids who ARE being abused will backpedal too btw, and minimize things. But investigating gives you a chance to assess, and lets THEM know that there are adults who exist, who- even when theyâve done something wrong- still care about their wellbeing more than they care about punishment
As a culture we moved on too quickly from Lori Lemaris, Supermanâs Ex-Girlfriend Who Is Also A Mermaid. Just as a concept, sheâs a beautiful encapsulation of the levels of comic book bullshit (affectionate) that you stumble across in superhero stories. Mermaids are emphatically real and one of them was a legitimate love interest for Clark Kent for most of the 60s
I donât need an entire movie about her, I just need the Superman 2025 sequel to have a bit where Lois goes âHey I have an assignment in Atlantis you want to come alongâ and Clark says âAhhh eesh I donât know my ex lives there might be awkwardâ and Lois goes âYour fucking whatâ
