i stopped trying to figure out where i end and it begins.

i keep chasing homes the way stray dogs chase passing trains. always convinced the next one will fix me.

the next family. the next porch light. the next pair of hands willing to reach out.

but every time someone gets too close, the sickness remembers itself. and i become exactly what they were warned about.

a junkyard mutt with a broken brain and a dangerous bite.

so i climb back onto the train, ears flat against my head, carrying equal amounts of guilt and hunger.

still searching. always searching.

as if a rabid dog could ever outrun its own teeth.

in the summer time , im a bit of a hippie ..

i sleep in the grass with the crickets , smoking joints rolled with care ..

trekking the edge of railroad tracks in old towns , I ride with the wind till it takes me home ..
