THERE ARE *COWS* IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, GARY. COWS!!! I've been invited by David Knupp to post one nature shot (that I've taken) every day for 7 days, and also to nominate a different person on each of those days to follow suit. Here's a wide shot of Sturgill Simpson from last night at the Moody, where you can see all eight members of the band. I particularly dug having the drummer up front at stage left, with the horn section in back on the drum riser. From my vantage point at the front of the balcony, I could watch Miles play his kit and see how he approached different parts of the set, switching between jazz style and rock style grips. UNDER THE WEATHER A quiet, intimate moment during Sturgill Simpson's 2nd show at the Moody. Lucky enough to attend tonight thanks to the handsome and charming @peteredominguez. In spite of feeling less than 100% (drinking tea and blowing his nose after almost every song), Simpson puts on a powerful show. A three-piece horn section really got the joint swinging tonight. #sturgillsimpson

I love it when there's a Store Dog. This is SUMMER, who rules the roost at The Lightbulb Shop on North Burnet in Austin. There was a sign in the window that said, basically, "There's a dog in here, so if you have a dog too, let us know first!" Along I-35 just north of New Braunfels TX there's a forlorn little building that used to house a roadside antiques store. My guess is that the presence of "beer / snacks" on the sign means they tended more toward the "junque" version of things, but no matter.
