BIOGRAPHY
Scott Mercer was no stranger to the famous Hollywood romance stories, for he had ended up smack in the middle of one. Every once in a while, the story of how Grant and Vivienne Mercer had met, got engaged in six weeks time and ended up as one of the power couples that the world knew, would resurface and make its rounds. Scott was born barely a year into their marriage. He was no special baby, with piercing light eyes, but he was the most precious thing that Grant and Vivienne had in their lives. Vivienne doted on her son, making sure that he had everything he needed in order to be successful. Even when his baby sister Sloane was born, that did not change.
As a young boy, he remembered the staff that kept the house running and in order. The parties he often sneaked into after bed time only for his mother to dance with him and then tuck him into bed. Even well into adulthood, Scott would be able to find photos that found their way to the press of his younger self standing on his mother's feet, both with broad smiles as they danced. He knew all he needed to do was ask and he would receive, something he would abuse during his teenage years.
However getting the love and affection from his father was a harder feat. Grant had fallen more for his daughter than he had for his son. Perhaps because he looked to similar to himself, seeing his own flaws reflected in him. That didn't mean Scott stopped trying. So much so, that even during high school he did all he could to make sure he would get admitted to Harvard as soon as he graduated, as Grant was a Harvard Alumni himself. Hearing his father boast that his son was allowed to study at his old university to become a lawyer himself made Scott immensely happy, even if it was only momentarily. If asked about it, he would say that would be the happiest he had ever been.
For Scott was quite smart. Harvard wasn't as challenging as his father had always made it look and perhaps graduating summa cum laude when his father only graduated cum laude was perhaps a truth Mercer Senior could not bear to explain to his friends and business connections. So Scott never brought it up. It was throughout his study at Harvard however that, through some fellow students, he also developed an interest for mediation and counselling. With the advice of his professors, he was told to add psychology-related electives during his law degree, as well as short courses on communication, mediation and conflict resolution. He was able to juggle it all without breaking a sweat and Scott actually appreciated the extra challenge.
His legal traineeship was done at his father's firm, concentrating on family law, specifically divorce cases was what he excelled at. And during his traineeship, he would get his postgraduate counselling and coaching diploma, alongside a mediation certificate and therapy training. By the time he was a full fledged lawyer, he was also a licenced counsellor, shaving off four years off his originally devised schoolplan. And there he thrived. He started his own company; Clarity Family Law & Mediation, a move his father had apparently disapproved of but one Scott mad nevertheless. He gathered client after client, never offering both services to one client but made sure to have excellent referrals who would give him a referral fee.
When it was revealed his sister was pregnant, Scott set aside his shock and surprise and made sure to be there. To help and support. His niece was the most beautiful child he'd ever lay eyes on and he might've spoiled her more than Sloane would've liked. So when Sloane moved to a town named Kismet Harbor, Scott weighed his options. Los Angeles had his parents, his business. But his business was easily relocated and he didn't want to miss watching his niece grow up. He'd never been so lucky to find love, thus being able to leave behind any flings and bed partners behind without a care, setting his way towards Kismet Harbor.
Now settled in a large home in Hawthorne Hideaway, his practice having it's own side of the house, he's ready for a refreshing start in a new and smaller town, wondering what would lie in wake for him.
