I think i might love teaching also its very rewarding. Im teaching stop motion to 13-18 year olds which i think is a demographic sweet spot of, like, i can still impart stuff but also they already have an interest and there's no wrangling. My friend is teaching 8-11 year olds and it actually seems like wrestling snakes

I don't think this kind of belief is Old Man Yells At Cloud. I think it's more being attracted by the idea that there was once a time, always before you were born, when people like you would have lived a happier life. The films and music were all to your taste, you mightnt have felt marginalised for your interests, you wouldve lived in an (irl) community where you wouldnt have to struggle so so hard for acceptance, because such things mightve been more of a given Back Then. It's a way to explain away, but also to enshrine the alienation you feel about living in the modern day. This is so totally understandable, it's a valid coping tactic to Get Through The Day, but it's also fantastical escapism. Survivorship bias is a hell of a thing and yeah, there were underdog weirdos and freaks who partied through the 20th century and lived to tell all the crazy stories and make the good media, but there were a lot of people also who had extremely hard lives exacerbated by or because of the times they lived in, for a million billion reasons that you would relate to a hell of a lot more than, like, harrison ford's deal. This is not to say, like, "your parents generation had it harder than yours, deal with it". This is not true across the board. I'm saying that if you were a youth in the 50s or 60s or 70s or 80s or 90s or 2000s, being a human might not have come any easier to you than it does now. Previous generations had different shit to deal with, but not so different that they lived with a happiness that is now permanently sealed off from you cos you missed the good birth window. Shit is definitely fucked but so was the time of every civil and social unrest on earth. People still found places for themselves in that. Again this is not blaming anyone who has not found their place. I just want to say basically that it is not fated to be out of your reach on account of we are historically past anything good happening to anyone

I hav been in france this last week as my work has been exhibited in a festival... it is actually my first time travelling abroad lmao. It's really really nice here. It has done wonders to expand my horizons but also has been very humbling to see just how incredibly small my world was. Talking w lots of continental types who are total polymaths & clued in to many different fields of thought. I was never a big fish in a little pond... just a regular fish in a regular pond... also, i need to learn more about engineering and become fluent in a second language RIGHT NOW

Lol sorry for the terrible presence on here lately. Tomorrow is my birthday and my dad has suddenly tried to talk to me after a month or two of silence. The last 7 months have been pretty shit. Drip-fed ominous communications which i think were partially designed to break my confidence enough to be controllable, partially my dad wanting to lash out and punish me. He said we needed to talk again, and i was like man it's my birthday, what possibly can have changed since the last time we spoke and you said I'd ruined the lives of everyone in our family. At best it's a control maneuver, at worst it's just him wanting to ruin my birthday out of spite 😭. Im very tired of an innocuous message from him spinning me out and giving me weeks of nightmares and crying. I just told him that i think it'd be best for him and his family if i wasn't in his life anymore. I hope that'll be that, lol. Anyways i got LOVELY cards from my sisters and a big bunch of daffodils so im happy out
