In this reinterpretation, the Colour Out of Space is not just something beyond the visible spectrum, it is a purely electromagnetic wave, self-sustaining and conscious. The spectrum itself. It’s "mind" , its “thinking” is the evolving, time-dependent structure of the EMW. The information that constitutes its being is stored directly in the wavelength, amplitude, and polarization of the light, much as data are encoded.

The Colour exists because it propagates in the medium, well, it may be even vacuum. Every oscillation of the electric and magnetic fields corresponds to a moment of perception, a decision, a memory.

Since it requires energy to sustain its coherence and to prevent dissipation it has to take it from something. When the Colour encounters organic matter, it interacts with the atoms of the body, particularly their electrons. The electromagnetic field of the Colour drives the electrons into forced oscillations at its own characteristic frequency, while taking away the energy of the previous process. In simple words, when it takes away the energy, it interacts with the atoms, indirectly exchanging the energy.

The consequences lead to forced oscillation of electrons, sustained over time, can alter the structure of the atoms and molecules and body structure. The matter begins to adopt the same frequency range as the Colour. What was once flesh, water, or soil becomes structurally corrupted, transformed into a something different and keep slightly radiating the same light. The process is the same with the regular light-matter interaction.

Any medium has its own absorption windows. This property is related to the material's ability to absorb light. Since the Color was stored in the water, I believe the water absorbs its spectral range very well. It absorbs the light and then re-emits the same wave in the process known as resonance fluorescence, making the water an effective storage medium for the localization of the Color. And it makes sense: if its natural habitat includes the same hydrocarbon living forms, it’s obviously that water acts as the solvent and crucial for the biological processes. Settling in water bodies, it pneumatically becomes a supporter of the life cycle of living organisms if they related to the water. The same logic applies to any liquids/gases, I just use the water as a good example
