You wake up to the sun shining in your eyes as it rises above the treetops. You go to bury your face into 10k’s hair but a couple taps to your shoulder stops you. Looking up you see Addy, Murphy, and Warren smiling down at you and 10k.
You shoot up into a sitting position, rustling the sleeping bag beneath you. 10k pulls you tighter to him in a half-sleep daze, resting his head on your lap. Addy and Warren’s smile grow larger and they cover their mouths to keep from laughing.
“10k, wake up.” You say, showing the three awake members of the group an awkward smile as you shake 10k’s shoulder.
10k opens his eyes, waking up very quickly once he noticed the eyes staring down at him. His eyes fly to just above your head and that is when you realize something very game-changing; you still have your ears and tails showing for everyone to see.
“Oh my gosh.” You exclaim, quickly gaining control over the fox inside you. The ears and tails slowly sink back into your body, but at the shock present on Murphy, Warren, and Addy’s face you think that might have been a bad idea.
“I can explain.” You say, looking at everyone around you. At the sound of you yelling other members of the group begin to wake up and look at you in confusion.
“What are you explaining?” Doc asks.
You breathe out a soft sigh, looking over to 10k who smiles at you in reassurance.
You wait until every member of the group is fully awake before you begin to explain what you are. You decide it’s best to tell them every detail you can think of, so that they have all the facts before making their decision on whether you need to leave the group or not.
The only thing you don’t tell the group about is your star ball, something very precious to you because it is like your life force in a ball, and if someone were to get ahold of your star ball they would be able to control both you and the fox inside you. All kitsunes value their freedom and if someone takes control of a kitsune the repercussions would be massive, so you know that keeping this one thing from the group is for the best.
“So that’s what I am, a kitsune, and I understand if you want me to leave.” You say at the end of your explanation. You take a deep breath and prepare yourself for the worst. Luckily you packed the night before so you’ll be able to get out of their hair as soon as they tell you to go.
“I don’t want you to leave.” 10k says, wrapping your hands in his. He gives your hands a gentle squeeze before looking to the rest of the group, “if Y/n goes, I go.”
“I vote that she stays,” Murphy adds, “me and her can bond over our differences and since she has hundreds of years of wisdom we can talk about the past.”
“I think it’s best if she stays,” Addy says, “not only has she become a close member of our group, but she has powers that can help us on our journey.”
“She should stay,” Doc pipes up, “She’s already been helping me with the medicine and now that she can openly use all her knowledge we’ll be extra prepared.”
Warren takes a quick look around for any objection and when she finds none she nods her head, “Y/n, if you want to stay then you are welcome to.”
“I would love to stay, thank you.” You say, smiling brightly at the group you have now grown even closer with.
“So now that that’s settled, let’s talk about why you two were cuddling this morning.” Addy says, sitting down in front of you and 10k. Warren and Murphy look to each other before shrugging and sitting down next to Addy.
“Oh... uh well there is also an explanation for that.” You say as you feel the blood rushing to your cheeks.
“The explanation is that I love her.” 10k says bluntly. You gasp, looking to him with wide eyes. Once he realizes what he’s said 10k’s cheeks turn to the same shade of red as yours are.
Before he can worry too much about it you quickly say, “I love you too.” 10k moves closer and gives you a passionate kiss, stealing your breath away.
“And now we’re together.” He says, turning to the shocked but smiling faces of Murphy, Addy, Warren, and everyone else in the group that decided to listen in. Doc gives everyone another shock when he starts cheering for you and 10k, much to the embarrassment of both of you.
Even though your cheeks are blazing and you want to hide away in 10k’s arms, you look around at the group and smile at the unexpected acceptance that they gave you. And although you are worried about the consequences of falling in love, you’re happy that you found such a wonderful family.

You had been walking on a long road when a group of survivors stopped next to you. An old man rolled down the car window and smiled,
“Hey there! You’re looking a little lonely.”
You weren’t lonely. Having spent a few hundred years moving from town to town before anyone started noticing you weren’t aging at a proper speed, you had grown to be distant from others. Of course, you would have never expected a zombie apocalypse to start in your lifetime, so maybe you could use a little human interaction.
“Uh sure,” you replied, “I haven’t seen an actual person for like four months, I think.”
The old man whistled, “yeah that is a long time to be alone. Are you going anywhere specific?”
“Nope, just following this road until I hit civilization.” You said, gesturing to the road ahead of you.
“How have you survived this long alone?” A younger man, boy?, asked.
“I’m very skilled with the katana.” You said, pulling your sword out of the hilt a little. You also had other weapons in your arsenal, but you decided to keep those to yourself so that you didn’t scare away the group.
A dark skinned woman then stepped out of the second car and walked up to you. She looked you over, staring especially hard at your eyes and the sword on your belt.
“How about you travel with us for a little while, until we find more people,” she offered, extending her hand to you, “my name is Warren.”
“I’m Y/n,” you told her, shaking her hand, “I think that would be lovely, thank you.”
“Okay. You can ride with Doc and 10k.” Warren said, motioning to the car with the old man and the young man.
You got into the backseat, introduced yourself to the two men, and then you were off with a new a group of people.

That had happened about ten weeks ago, and now, even though you hadn’t found more people, you decided it was about time to leave. 10k was getting a little too close to you, and you were becoming uneasy with the feelings you knew well blossoming in your chest again.
You had fallen in love a couple times before, when you were younger and naïve to the fact that you could never truly be with someone. Your mother warned you not to get too close to people because in the end you would either be forced to move on or to watch them die.
Being a kitsune definitely had its perks, but you have never felt ready to settle down with someone and watch them age away without you. Also, your mother had told you what could happen if you become too sad or angry. The fox in you would lash out and do drastic things, going as far as murdering those around you.
Because it’s been a few years since you shifted from a fox to a human you have found ways to keep the fox at bay. Playing a few tricks and pranks here and there helped to control the mischievous spirit, but you were scared that if you let someone get too close to you and then lost them -- the apocalypse would be the least of everyone’s worries.
So, when you started experiencing those feelings again, you decided it was time to leave this group behind. No one knew when someone would die in these times, and you were not ready to face that kind of despair.
It was the middle of the night and you were silently packing up your belongings. You didn’t tell anyone in the group about what you really were, and with the looming feeling of love over your heart you weren’t going to risk lashing out on them.
Telling them would be complicated and they would probably throw you out anyways, so in your mind this was the best thing to do. You would no longer be a threat to the group’s safety.
You tie your belongings together and quietly pick them up, holding them to your chest. Your plan is to run for a long distance until the campsite was gone from view.
You have nine tails, a sign to others that you carry great wisdom with you. Having nine tails also unlocks the ability to hear anything happening around the world, and it would be tempting to hear what the group would say once you were gone, but this was the right thing to do. You believed nothing could change your mind.
You glance once more over the sleeping group, your eyes settling on 10k’s form which was situated in a dark corner of the campsite. With a quiet sigh you walk by him, intending to start running once you were out of earshot, but a hand lightly grasping your ankle makes you stop short.
You gasp in surprise and look down to see 10k’s sleepy eyes looking back at you. 10k’s grip tightens and his other hand reaches up to grab yours. Once your hand is secured in his he drags you down next to him, locking his arms around your waist.
Of course, you could easily pull away from him, but the intense happiness you feel being in his arms makes you stop. You can feel your eyes stinging with unshed tears and your head starts to tingle. Your control on staying human crumbles with each passing second as you focus on this feeling within you.
10k doesn’t make a sound when your ears and tails grow out of your body. He reaches up and touches your ears, marveling at how soft the fur is. You make a sound close to a purr before settling into his embrace and curling into his touch.
One of his hands reaches down to touch one of your tails, which flicks with the unexpected feeling. He pulls you away from his hold a little so that he can look in your eyes before speaking.
“You are so amazing.” He whispers, trying to not wake the others. You give him a hesitant smile as he rests his head against your chest, listening to your heartbeat.
Any thought of leaving the group has left your mind as you focus on the warmth 10k emits. He continues to whisper compliments to you, assuming that your ears can pick them up, until you fall asleep.
Once he knows you’re secure and not going anywhere 10k lets himself drift off as well. The sound of your heartbeat keeps him asleep for the rest of the night.

Addy, Warren, and Murphy are the first to wake up in the morning and see your new look. They are all reasonably surprised by the nine large tails and two large ears that you seem to have grown overnight.
“She was planning on leaving.” Addy says, pointing to your discarded pile of belongings that rest next to you and 10k.
“Well, what’s one more weirdo.” Murphy says, nodding at the two of you.
Warren and Addy look at each other with a brow raised before they go back to looking at the two of you. They have to admit, you both look pretty cute all curled up together, even if you have some explaining to do.

The group had set up camp on the side of the road because of the darkness that overcame the sky. It was a cold night and no one wanted to keep walking so Warren called for everyone to set up camp and get a fire going.
It was after dinner and there were people scattered all over the makeshift camp. You were leaning back against a tree and 10k had his head against your chest, breathing softly.
You had spent so long moving and now that the adrenaline was gone from your system you were feeling fidgety. 10k’s hair brushed against your neck and instantly your hands went to his hair. You carded your fingers through his hair and then lightly scratched your nails against his scalp.
10k sighed in content, snuggling his head against your chest and wrapping his arms around your waist. He could feel the group staring at you two. His reaction was to turn his face so it was away from the group and so they couldn’t see the blush spreading.
You looked at the group and saw them all smiling at you. You raised your finger in a ‘shhh’ motion but smiled with the group, looking down at 10k. You worked your fingers through his hair, rubbing behind his ear, before leaning down and whispering a quiet “I love you.”
You could see 10k turn redder before he leaned up and pressed his lips against your ear so he could quietly whisper “I love you too.”

Hey, I’m Geo, and I hate my job and my town! On top of the physical pain my job has caused me (with endangering my health due to an autoimmune disorder on top of it), I have been stalked and [sexually] harrassed by male customers multiple times, and then proceeded to be forced to hear sexual comments and jokes about my own harrassment by my male coworker! It fucking sucks!
I am so sick and tired of men asking me personal question after I’ve already told them to stop, and I even had a guy call the store to harrass me further. My anxiety and paranoia is through the roof, and I’ve had to buy pepper spray, a tazer, and (soon) a knife just to feel a LITTLE bit more protected at my job considering part of it is outside work and I’m alone by myself on top of it.
On top of that, I fucking hate my town! Every day I have to drive past confederate flags, thin blue stripe flags, “Blue Lives Matter” signs, and pro-life signs. I also have customers come in and boldly state their political beliefs (all of which are right-wing and bigoted, of course) to me for absolutely no reason and harrass me for my own for some reason? I personally don’t go to a gas station to argue my political beliefs to the cashier, but I guess some people do.
Anyway, that’s why I want to quit. I absolutely hate it here and so much of my anxiety and depression could be eradicated if I could just go somewhere else in my state, and I want to pursue my dream as a YouTuber. I know it’s far-feched, but I really want to try to raise diversity in the gaming scene on that hellsite, even if it’s just a little. I would also love to be a Twitch streamer, but my internet here doesn’t allow for it, which is also why I want to move.
That’s why I’m asking for about $15,000. I know it’s a lot, but I want to make sure I can completely cover my costs for at least a couple of months while I get everything situated. I will be using the money I get to upgrade my setup (first on the list is a decent green screen and ring light for my webcam, then an actual gaming setup so I can start playing games other than Among Us and Jackbox without my computer dying.)

I can’t stress enough that Covid 19 and the long hauler symptoms I’m suffering from have fully changed my entire life. I can’t work full shifts, I’m exhausted afterwards to the point of blacking out. I still have Covid induced tachycardia. I’m asthmatic. The cost of my meds has doubled, I was already on so many to my chronic pain and osteomalacia. Our government is still not giving help to people. I’m using as many resources as possible to keep my head above water including food banks and local farms that are helping people out. Y/n Y/l/n took a breath outside the classroom door. She closed her eyes and the sound of water settled behind her ears. Suddenly the door in front of her creaked open and she opened her eyes to see an entire class staring back.
“Welcome Ms. Y/l/n, please come in and take a seat.” Professor Xavier spoke, gesturing with his hand.
Y/n took a step inside the classroom, wavering slightly before steadying herself. She held her bookbag in front of her in order to remain balance before walking to an empty seat.
She breathed a sigh of relief as she neared the chair, happy to have drawn no more attention to herself. Unfortunately, she had thought too soon because just before she went to sit down she lost her balance and began to fall.
“Woah!” Someone exclaimed, steadying Y/n so that she’s back on her feet.
“Oh, thank you,” Y/n said, looking around at the eyes of all of her classmates, “everyone is staring at me.”
“Yeah, but Professor X will get their attention back,” The boy said, guiding Y/n to her seat, “there’s new students all the time, you’ll fit right in.”
“I hope so.” Y/n responded, shrinking a little in her seat.
“Though your clumsiness might attract some attention.” The boy said, smiling brightly at Y/n.
“I guess I just haven’t got my land legs back yet.” Y/n says with a smile.
“Can I have everyone’s attention, please?” Professor Xavier called from the front of the classroom, looking pointedly at Y/n and the silver-haired boy in front of her.
