Hello! I am Miłosz, 25 years old transgender man from Poland. I’m writing this post because I am deeply in need of top surgery but I cannot afford it on my own. 🍒

I’ve been on testosterone for almost two years at this point and I am way more than happy with the results. Yet some problems still remain – largely my chest – and are a source of great emotional distress. I have back problems and cannot bind my chest for longer periods of time – I can survive an hour, maybe two, but anything more means I am in pain. At the same time going outside as a more-or-less masculine looking person with facial hair and with tits isn’t the safest thing to do, especially in Poland. So getting top surgery is a question, beyond my personal feelings of gender dysphoria, of health and safety in daily life (I definitely have to and want to continue leaving the house and going outside!).

I am a full time student with a fairly time-consuming degree and now, at the time I’m writing this, after summer break I am back to my part-time job (that I love! Teaching children history is amazing!). But it is only a part-time job so all the money I earn goes for daily life and medical expenses (most of it for medical expenses, let's be honest, being transgender is plain expensive) so I cannot save money for the surgery. Poland is... not the greatest place to be trans, to put it lightly, as for the past few years LGBT people became the main target of the current right-wing government as a tool to grab and consolidate power. And it worked very well! You can win whatever election you want by painting your alleged enemy as someone who wants to destroy your precious civilization and brainwash & rape innocent Polish children! And this is how LGBT people are presented in mainstream media. It's... bad. And, coming back to my own personal issues – it makes getting a better or more stable job really hard, as I am not able to change my legal gender and name right now and won’t be able to do for at least some time, as the way it works in Poland is expensive, time-consuming and deeply humiliating (have fun suing your own parents to change a gender marker!).
