you think being sold to one direction is tough? my mom sold me to RUSH and neil added me to his drum kit
neil added me to his drumkit monday
turn up the harpsichord i cant hear the harpsichord
i really didn't want to start posting finished art here and turn this blog into another art account but maybe i'll consider making an exception if i ever happen to spend an exorbitant amount of time on a piece of fanart depicting a niche 60s band that nobody cares about . just because i don't think i would want that on my main art account anyway . not that i have or would ever do something like that
hey what are you doing right now. not much huh yeah me neither. why not throw on Odessey and Oracle (1968)

The Zombies talking and goofing off during the recording of The Way I Feel Inside.
I;M CRYING I’VE NEVER HEADRD THIS BEFORE THEY"RE SO WONDERFUL
I decided to make my best attempt at a transcription of this. My best is…well, I welcome corrections and amendments. (Especially from anyone who can identify the speaking voices of any Zombies members other than [tenuously] Colin and Rod.) Transcription follows:
–
(sounds of [what’s supposed to sound like] crunching footsteps on gravel; unintelligible speech; somebody else dicking around on something that makes whirry noises, most likely Rod Argent on the organ)
(laughter)
(somebody doing echoey ghostly whooping into whatever FX doohickey they have in the studio)
SOMEONE: Let’s stop, let’s stop.
SOMEONE ELSE: (does another ghost whoop)
COLIN BLUNSTONE: Do some space noises, on the organ.
(Rod Argent does some space noises on the organ)
POSSIBLY ROD OR CHRIS WHITE: Can we put this on—on the front of The Nitty Gritty?
[I think this mysterious question refers to the 1963 R&B novelty song, which didn’t chart in the UK but could well have been known to an avid student of R&B like Rod. it sounds like he’s suggesting it as the b-side to this song as a joke on how R&B they don’t sound right now]
(laughter)
(SFX: more gravelly crunching)
POSSIBLY KEN JONES: Gus – feet go faster.
(SFX: crunching speeding up to sound more like running feet; simultaneously more space noises, then the organ beginning to play more actual notes. organ plays a little bit of the “Colonel Bogey March”. general laughter)
SOMEBODY: Gus–
(gravel crunching, coin dropping)
ROD: How ‘bout:
(organ plays “My Bonny Lies Over the Ocean” as crunchy gravel footstep noises continue)
PROBABLY COLIN: What about— (organ continues) Rod. (organ pauses)
ROD: Yeah?
(Colin whistles the “Colonel Bogey March;” the organ joins in on a little vamp to accompany him immediately and then takes up the melody. crunching of fake footsteps continues throughout)
PROBABLY KEN JONES: We gonna try it, then?
(organ trails off)
SOMEONE: What is it called?
ROD: Don’t use dirty words [???]. Uh— it was, (singing a few notes of “The Way I Feel Inside”) da da da da—
COLIN: The Way I Feel Tonight?
ROD: The Way I Feel…Tonight. Yeah.
KEN JONES?: It’s been used before.
SOMEONE: Yeah, that’s what I thought [?].
ROD: No, it’s “The Way You Look Tonight.”
SOMEONE: Is it?
[crosstalk]
(somebody very close to the mic sings what I think are supposed to be a couple syllables of “The Way You Look Tonight”)
[crosstalk]
COLIN: The Way You Feel the– [thankfully unintelligible]
SOMEONE SINGING VERY CLOSE TO THE MIC: When I’m all alooone…
COLIN[?]: “The Way I Feel Myself Tonight,” take one.
(a note or two from the bass, followed by a little organ trill presumably to give Colin his notes)
COLIN (singing, a cappella): Should I try to hide the way I feel inside–
(interrupted by soft crosstalk)
SOMEONE: It’s stuck on your foot.
SOMEONE FURTHER FROM THE MIC: That was–
COLIN: No, it’s Rod.
SOMEONE: Or, somebody is.
ROD?: So—it's—gonna—some— yeah, it’s me, sorry.
SOMEONE: It’s a bit fast.
ROD: It’s a bit fast.
SOMEONE ELSE: A bit loud [?].
ROD?: Bit of the old fathers [???] got a bit [unintelligible]
COLIN?: Take two.
ROD?: ‘Cause it slows it down.
(organ plays a chord and holds it through the end)
SOMEONE: I’ll be doing it at me own tempo [??? maybe “I’ll do it in the old tempo”?]
ROD: You know, with feeling.
