Balancing good grades and mental health during the pandemic.
As a university student the hardest thing during the pandemic is to keep up with my weekly assignments and presentations while being mentally stable to actually be in a position where I’m able to get all this work done.
• Start mediation: everyone and their mom talk about meditation nowadays and there’s a reason. Try to implement a 10 minute meditation session to your routine; each morning after your breakfast take some time to calm yourself down, be aware of your body, the place you’re in and the fact that you’re healthy and alive on Earth. Be grateful for the things you’ve accomplished and focus on the positive.
• Be prepared: from my experience so far the classes that require at home preparation or homework are pretty standard each week, for example I already know that on Thursday I will have at least one presentation so I always make sure that I’ve done my other papers before the Thursday’s one comes up. Try keeping your schedule light; do one assignment every day and don’t try finishing them all in one day, spread them out.
• Exercise: you will need as much endorphins as you can possibly get. After your class put on clothes and go for a run, make some coffee and go drink it while walking and breathing outside in the fresh air. It will help you get back on studying more motivated and aware of what you have to do.
• Wake up early: again, basic but when you begin your studying at 9:00am, focus on studying for three hours and after all that work you’re done and you still have the entire day ahead of you you will feel much better about studying in general because it will be something that you will get done in a couple of hours and then you’ll continue with your day (when you spread your work out!!), there’s no need to panic; you’ll still have plenty of time to do whatever you want after your homework.
