Okay I’m going out on a limb and telling you that Saying it's ableist to call out despicable behaviour of Jax is fucking infantilizing, he’s a horrendously written character, and I don’t care if it’s gooseworx’s messaging on “this is who I would have been if I transitioned” it’s genuinely deplorable, and promotes a lot of negative and hurtful stereotypes on trans women..especially in our current political climate. (Sincerely a tired trans woman with AVPD)
That's not at all what I was saying in that post, nor am I glorifying Jax's actions in any way, shape, or form. What I was referring to were the comments people were making about Jax post-finale. Things such as "It's not that hard to open up to people Jax is being dramatic" among a lot of worse criticisms. While yes, it can be upsetting to see a character or person not do what you know will help them and give them a better ending, some of the ways people were discussing it was very ableist. It's not at all easy for people with AVPD to open up to people or have emotional intimacy with others. Yes it is something we have to overcome, but it's not in the slightest bit easy or simple. I'm nonbinary and also have AVPD, and I wanted that post of mine to focus on the aspect of people with AVPD and avoidant disorders and not the trans aspect of it at all. I hope this phrasing makes a bit more sense!
