“Oh, well little lady works too,” Colin chuckled with a shrug. “Does that type of thing happen to you often?” He asked with a cocked brow, quick to slip into another laugh.

“More often than I’d like to admit,” Sarina replied honestly, running a hand through her hair, her reaction somewhere between amusement and embarrassment.

“But you were totally thinking it and I’m shutting down that rumour mill before it even has time to take off.”

“Fiiine,” Sarina sighed. “I’ll make sure that the fact that you might have some actual feelings stays as our little secret.”

“Dare I say it, this furball thing actually looks kind of…. cute today? And no– before you say anything, I am not turning soft.”

“Hey, I wasn’t going to say anything but you definitely implied it.”

“If I start giving you a back rub am I allowed to rub more than your back?” Nik asked with a tilt to his head.

“And yet you’re the one that tries to tell me I have ulterior motives,” Sarina teased, leaning back against him. “But I guess that will all depend on how good of a job you do.”

“Ugh, you’re always asking too much of me,” Nik let out with an exasperated sigh, falling onto the couch and pulling her down with him. “How do you suggest I make it up to you?”

“Well there’s dinner. Maybe a back rub. Oh, and the classic promise that you don’t actually intend on keeping.”

“While I understand your hesitancy you can’t just throw me out on strike one.”

“Oh really now? Because aside from the initial appeal, which of your actions suggest I shouldn’t do exactly that?”

“I don’t mind being a basic bitch and saying that I am so ready for fall. Making out in summer heat is just not as fun.”

“Okay, but counterpoint, I feel like the summer heat definitely leans itself to more risque hook ups which are their own kind of fun.”

“Clearly I am off my game. You’ve caught me on a bad night,” he gave a hopeless night. “Give me a start over and the chance to flirt back?”

“I don’t know, this feels like it could be getting dangerously close to the whole fool me twice category.”

“It feels like it could at least kill an afternoon. Maybe on a rainy day, teaching the little fella,” Colin nodded and chuckled. “We can’t be doing exciting things every day of the week!”

“Okay first of all your ‘little fella’ is actually a little lady,” Sarina chided jokingly. “And yes, you might have a point but I feel like watching a cat learn to swim is something you’d aimlessly scroll past and then somehow wind up eight videos deep into it.”

“I’m not late at all, you’re just expecting me early. Really this entire thing is on you. Begs the question, how are you going to make it up to me?”

“Oh no no. That’s not how this works mister. You were the one who was late which means you’re the one that should be making it up to me.”

“I totally would’ve guessed you would be more of a dog person,” she admitted, glancing between the two. “But she’s cute! Can I pet her or will she start hissing?”

“What type of dog would you see me with? And if you mention any of the big breeds I will be personally offended. No need to worry about hissing, and since she seems to have calmed down you shouldn’t have to worry about scratches either.”

“Maybe if you just toss her back in a few times she’ll find herself a new hobby. Or you’ll severely traumatize her - either, or.”

“Yeah, I’d rather not risk traumatising my cat so I think I’ll skip that. Plus is seeing a cat learn to swim really that exciting? If that’s the case then you really need to get out more.”

“Fool is a little strong of a word now. A little dad humor isn’t as bad as your face is making it seem.”

“It is that bad when it’s your response to a woman flirting with you, which she totally was by the way but you were too caught up in your ‘joke’ to notice.”

“It’s 2020, babe. I’m kinda surprised that neither one of us have been so called canceled already. And besides, your little fur ball is more like a melting snow man anyway. I’m sure it’ll be a puddle of sludge soon enough…”

“But a very cute melting snow man. Also she has a name and you really don’t need to refer to her as it.”

“Should have known when I met you, you’d end up being a cat person.”

“What do you mean end up being? I’ve always been a cat person, it’s just now I have the cat to go with it.”

“Consider me taught. How old is she do you know?”

“Her birthday’s around the end of August and I hope that felt just as weird to hear as it did to say.”
