I hadn't thought much of it when you easily agreed to come along

it could've been boredom. or just wanting to get me off your back and not bother you. you had dressed casually when everyone around had nice clothes and even cosplay, and of course I wore the same outfit as I always did!

but mid performance, when I turned to you—

I saw it

that expression

with that smile

and those eyes that only lit up in that brief moment in time

happier than a sun beam

rambling excitedly to me, whispering as you leaned closer and kept pointing things out to me

I missed the most of the concert drawing it, trying to commit to the memory. i heard it all of course, but I was ready to be lectured to pay attention properly

but you didn't look upset like most people would be

and when I later asked "aren't you afraid you're going to forget how it feels like?"

your eyes flickered before you laughed, holding up your phone and said "that makes the two of us!"

you had recorded and took pictures of the entire thing yourself, and shared it with me later. like it was best thing that's happened in a long time

I never pointed out that those eyes is what made that night special. or that they stayed like that until we left

music a catalyst for whatever bloomed in your soul

it proved a difference between you and the other killer. his eyes lit for emotional things, happiness, being present, and other instances that made it appear more often in stage 1.

but you? it didnt matter whether you were stage 2 or in stage 1, or maybe nothing was ever enough for you. but after the very first time I saw it—it clicked.

you were always a liar. hiding behind a mask. pretending be something or someone. as if some terrible thing would happen the moment you slipped too far

but when you let yourself be you?

you're the brightest in the room

and... I'm secretly glad I've been only one that noticed

the only one in this vast, vast multiverse... to see the real you

what they dont tell u is that drawing something specific about a character in a certain point in their life which evokes specific memories and emotions associated with it. can sometimes (more often than not) end up leaking into your own and now you gotta Feel that too

and yet I can feel you in every paint stroke

in every fiber of my soulless being, to every code and story out there
