i understand how fandom works so im not necessarily surprised that the main discussion concerning dennis and amy scene is whether there is any romance, is he gay or not. however to me this was suuuuch an interesting scene that i need to talk about it.
dennis is literally playing house with amy, just like santos said. it doesnt even matter if he is feeling love towards her or not. hes playing the part of a loving, supporting husband. helping her on the farm, building a relationship with the baby, helping her emotionally, knowing her friends and family and making plans around her.
him taking over the driving is a very telling detail imo. it puts them very squarely into gender roles that wouldnt be at play if they were just friendly. i think that it was very purposeful that he literally takes over the wheel and the place of her partner.
also its interesting how throughout this season we see whitaker as a not very manly man. his interactions with other man make him seem like an ousider or are at least awkward. so him sloting himself as the driver in a very patriarchal way seems that more important. he becomes someone else to help amy. he wants to help out, be useful so he becomes someone who amy needs, changes himself.
this situation wasnt fucked up bc there was romance, but bc he tethered himself to a patient. if he gives so much of himself to every patient he will burn himself out.
his sexuality is still unknown, but i have to say that i actually enjoy him being straight. whitaker is empathetic, kind, caring. somewhat meek and is low on all the masculine traits like anger, short temper, etc. having a guy that has psychologically female traits and not assigning him to be gay just bc female trait=gay is good i think.

im just at chapter 31 of yona of the dawn (the green dragon is in the process of being acquired) and i cannot imagine it going on for another 244 chapters😭😭 like this really seems like the 'find all elements for the most part of the story -> quickly get the whole thing done' ttpe of story. like in inuyasha the shikon no tama splits into an unknown number of shards but here there are 4 dragons and so far there wasnt any filler inbetween meeting a dragon. im just so confused.
ok what i would like to happen is: by chapter 120 yona is restored as the ruler and the rest of the story is her going around kouka once again but this time she is helping all the people, righting all the wrongs of her father. she will probably go to war tho with all the subtle references to kouka being a weak country that avoids conflict.
