I’ve gotten a handful of emails in the last few days notifying that I’m getting followed here on tumblr (albeit by x-rated accounts, but nevertheless..).
So I thought I’d log back in and check it out.

“I’m black” — The whitest white that has even whited
👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
If someone is truly not racist, then when they are told something accidentally comes across as racist they will willingly change it. If they refuse to change it and push back against criticism, it only serves to prove that they dont care how it affects other people. Bottom line, if multiple people have said “hey that looks like a lynching” and theyve replied “lol okay and?” Then they are racist. Period.
YES
Why? You don’t believe I’m black? My blog doesn’t have any info on it so that wouldn’t help you either. Why would I lie about that
Why do you think 🤔

You try sooooo hard to get attention, it’s sad
I know, right? I really try hard to bring attention to social and racial issues that I find important. It’s sad how prevalent these issues still are in society :/
Spooky Shopkeeper: The price may be more than you expect to pay.
Me: Yes, I know how US taxes work, too.
Shopkeeper, increasingly exasperated: I’m trying to tell you that I’m evil and offering these wares with no regard for the harm they will do!
Me, also increasingly exasperated: I know what capitalism is too goddammit
I’m black. That scarecrow isn’t racist
Well you’re the first black person who’s said that! I would love for you to come out from behind the anon mask though :)
I HATE people like you that like to cause drama over things that don't matter, grow up and learn to keep things to yourself instead of posting them online.
Racism doesn’t matter? Keeping it to myself won’t bring awareness and change. Sure, say I’m starting drama. But I’m doing it over something I care about and think is important.
I'm gonna go with you, that scarecrow does not look good, and whoever put it up definitely should have thought twice about it.
At the very least, they should take it down after being told multiple times by multiple people that it comes off as racist.

Funny that you don’t post the post that goes against your opinion 🙄 what do you want for being an ~ally~? A pat on the back?
I’ve posted asks that don’t support me!
And I want to spread awareness and start conversations! I’m not doing this for me.
Not everything is racist and i really don’t think this was meant to be racist in any way. My first impression was they used a garbage bag as a hood because they used to place hoods over peoples heads before they were hung. I feel like this is no different than Halloween decorations I’ve seen for the last 20 years that are only now considered offensive because everyone is offended by everything now. If people were really offended the cops would have made them remove it by now
Not intending to be racist doesn’t mean it’s not!! There are a millions reasons why a black bag could have been used, none of them racist in intent. But the final product reminds me, and the many black individuals I talked with, of lynching. So intent doesn’t matter.
And I’m not sure about what the cops can force people to do on their own property... For all I know, the cops have no right to force them to take it down even with complaints filed.
Technically the head could be any color. The bag is black. What if it was a brown bag, would that be less offensive? If they painted the ball under it black but had a brown bag, you’d never know. It’s a Halloween decoration. The intent was not racist, I’m sure. They should change it, obviously. It’s just really speculative to assume the intent based on bag (NOT HEAD) color.
I’m not assuming the intent. I’m looking at a display that is eerily reminiscent of lynchings, a racist act carried out against black people. The intent could have been 100% pure. The resulting product is still a bad bad look.

Omg. Someone used a black trash bag to make a freaking scarecrow and secured it with a rope, like every other scarecrow. That doesn’t mean it was meant to, or even resembles an African American with a noose. It’s a damn scarecrow, not a political/racist statement.
Except it does resemble it? Millions of people have been able to make scarecrows without using a black head and a rope around the neck.
Sure, it wasn’t intended as a racist statement. But that doesn’t mean it’s not racist and offensive.
I can see what they were going for, and would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they just needed something to cover the [basketball?] that the head is made of, but like... yeaaaahhh at first glance it definitely looks Not Good.
Ok... whatever give the the benefit of the doubt at first. Let’s go that route. But then if you’re continually told, “hey look, that display is a bit racist and offensive, maybe take it down or change it”... One would hope you would listen.
But still... if I was trying to make a scarecrow and all I had was a black trash bag and a rope, well that scarecrow isn’t getting made.
